Cora Jade on Saraya, AJ Lee, Death Match, 2.0, Roxanne, Natalya and more

Fightful spoke with Cora Jade ahead of her NXT Halloween Havoc match with Roxanne Perez.

The close relationship the two held played out onto television, and Jade says she's excited for the match and the story. A year ago, Roxanne was ROH World Women's Champion when the company shut down, and Cora said she sent her a text that day wanting her in WWE. Cora Jade was also a part of the tryout Perez had, and was hopeful WWE would sign her. This lines up with a Fightful Select report from December that Perez had many in WWE pushing for her.

Cora said that Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker, Paige/Saraya, AJ Lee, and Natalya all were big inspirations to her when she started watching wrestling, and she decided very early that's what she wanted to do. She noted that it was surreal to walk into work on Tuesdays and realize Shawn Michaels is her boss.

She wanted to do at least one deathmatch in her life, and ended up doing one with Jimmy Lloyd before her tryout with WWE. She said that afterwards she felt like she got hit by a car and would probably never do one again, but wanted to experience it. She grew up watching Jon Moxley indie work and was a fan of the style.

Cora believes that NXT 2.0 opened up opportunities for a lot of younger wrestlers, and said sometimes she has to pull herself back and realize she's accomplishing her dreams at a young age.
