I've been working on Gelabert's design, I even have a full name for him! Gelabert Brugaroles, can you find a more Catalan name than that? I believe not.

In the first picture, you'll see some of the first tries I did.

I wanted him to have a moustache because one thing I liked about drawing Brian is how the moustache hid his smile so the only way to read his expression was through his eyes and for Gelabert I wanted something similar, I wanted it to be difficult for Cèlia to read his expression, to never know his real intentions.

So I did some portraits letting my hand do its thing and see what options I had. The lack of variety in men's hairstyle in that period doesn't make it easy, it's mainly undercut and the facial hair is what gives a bit more of personality.

Option A even if the face shape is different it looks way too much like Brian so obviously I won't be going for that one. Option B it's not bad but looks way too younger than how I imagine Gelabert, plus, yeah he looks like Ermengol from my previous project Dones Modernes, even if that character would perfectly fit Gelabert's role. Option C felt more like it, more mature, and with a big beard and a moustache I cover his expression just like I wanted it.

I'll be exploring a bit more and I know that he is going to evolve from this first design but it's a starting point for him.

Age wise I imagine him to be between 35 and 40 years old. Athletic body type, not too big, not too slim, a bit of body hair and well endowed enough.

I still have to decide if blonde, brunette or dark hair, blue, green or brown eyes... What would you prefer? And what do you think about him? Any suggestion? Any thoughts you would like to share?
