Double post today, yay!
I wasn't expecting to finish this today but there we go.
The 23rd of April is Sant Jordi (Saint George) patron of Catalonia (and many other places). We Catalans celebrate it with books and roses! We could say it's our Valentine's Day plus books!
As far as I know, it's a celebration from many centuries ago (middle age times) although the books were added around the 1920s-30s when a bookseller thought it would be a great idea, and honestly, it was.
The streets are filled with stands selling roses and books, and many activities around the cities and ofc you can imagine that Barcelona is the most crowded of them all.
Last year, I wanted to be there after many years of being away, but sadly, it rained... a lot... it was a complete disaster and many booksellers lost a lot of money and books. Because you know, when it rains in Barcelona it doesn't rain the normal amount... it rains for all the months without rain... (Actually, now, they are facing a severe drought waiting for the government to apply water restrictions... after the tourist season ends ofc...)
This time I'll stay in the UK expecting my partner to offer me a rose, but bc I know he won't, at least Brian thought about it and Joey has her own rose.
Her first real rose! She is so happy with it! I imagine her father offering a rose every year, even after her mother's death but you know, it's not the same a father's rose that the man you love's rose.
