Cesaro update

Claudio Castagnoli left WWE earlier this year, and hasn't appeared for signings or wrestling appearances since. Now, many fans are hopeful he'll be Bryan Danielson's replacement at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door and Blood & Guts. Fightful spoke to several promoters several months ago and since then, who confirmed they'd reached out to reps for Claudio Castagnoli, but there didn't seem to be much interest on that side of things at that point.
However, Claudio has been in the ring. Fightful can confirm that he's been at Flatbacks in Orlando multiple times over the last several weeks, training in the ring. We haven't heard an update on if he'll actually be the replacement this week, but he has been working in the ring again.

Assuming Claudio is the surprise, could the reason he hasn't taken any bookings because he's actually been under contract for at least part of his post WWE time?
