Kenny Omega Notes: Forbidden Door, AEW Game, Ospreay, Injuries

Fightful spoke to Kenny Omega for a new interview, one of his first in the seven months he's been absent from AEW.

He pinpointed a match with Okada in the G1 Semifinals as when he developed vertigo, with Okada hitting a dropkick, flipping and landing knee-first on Omega's head. He's been learning how to live with it ever since. He also spoke candidly about his interviews and said that there was a video he did with a chiropractor, and around that time he had to list his injuries and ailments, and what he thought would heal on its own. When the list of things that wouldn't heal up themselves was insurmountable, the decision was made to take time off. His original hopeful target was to be back by Forbidden Door.

Despite the early bad blood surrounding NJPW and AEW, Omega tells us he always thought that this kind of show would happen. He thought it would take longer than it actually did to go down, but is happy things went that way. Omega insists he won't be at Forbidden Door, but wanted to be in some (or any) capacity. However, he claimed that he didn't want to be there without an appearance leading to something else. He's hopeful these shows will continue.

Kenny Omega proceeded to "lol good job lil bro" Will Ospreay, in the best way we can describe it. He says that Ospreay's style isn't necessarily for him and other "five star caliber" talent and legends have much more memorable matches. Omega stated that Ospreay deserved those ratings by today's standards, but that Ospreay immediately goes out and posts about them, meanwhile Omega says he himself "grew up after his sixth or seventh five star match" and doesn't worry about it that much anymore. He said he has a lot more respect for Switchblade Jay White getting creative and finding something that worked when it needed to.

Omega also spoke about the Fight Forever game, and how he's learned to work within the budget that they're provided. He's told us they're still targeting this year for the game, and doing what they can to make that happen. The creative aspect of the game is almost complete, and he's actively looking for what he can do next to help. He admitted at one point he wasn't sure when or if the game would come out, but says Yuke's has been working around the clock and kicked things into another gear of late

Off air, Omega told me he'd been enjoying the TMNT Shredder's Revenge game, and was hopeful more seasons would release.

The full interview is now available, and we encourage any aggregators to utilize it as opposed to this summary.
