Lio Rush early interview notes
Added 2022-06-21 22:18:33 +0000 UTCFightful spoke to Lio Rush ahead of the release of his new EP, Not Found 2!
We talked to Lio, who confirmed he's still a free agent despite appearing on New Japan Pro Wrestling recently. Lio said that he likes it that way, and prefers to construct things so that they work around his schedule and how he likes to do things. He spoke about the constant "retirement" digs, and says it doesn't annoy him, it just isn't original at this point and seems like a waste of time. "I'm here and I'm here to say," he said. The circumstances of appearing at NJPW recently made it feel right for him.
At first, he wanted to separate his music audience and wrestling audience, but has found it welcoming to bring both together. He's also working on some collaborations within wrestling and revealed to Fightful that Chris Bey is among them recording with him. He also wanted to solidify that music isn't just a side job for him, which was helped out when he signed a record deal. He's hoping to eliminate the stigma of pro wrestlers in music, as he says there are plenty of talented crossovers there.
Lio confirmed he's nowhere near physically ready to return after his shoulder injury, and hasn't resumed lifting weights yet. He said that it was demoralizing after he'd just recently returned from a shoulder injury to experience another one so quickly.
Comments
I genuinely hope he sheds some light on the aew jump, and the events afterwards last year, but understand that may be too complicated a nut to crack.
