Eddie Kingston Interview Notes: Japan, Moxley, Cody, AEW, More

AEW star Eddie Kingston spoke to Fightful for a new interview ahead of his match at Captial Collision with Tomohiro Ishii.

Kingston told us despite growing up an AJPW fan, he respected NJPW immensely, especially Shinya Hashimoto, Masahiro Chono, Great Muta. He hasn't been to Japan since 2011, but some of his goals include working the G1 Climax tournament, and facing Hiroshi Tanahashi. However, facing off with Ishii was a big one to accomplish as well. However, his true "Forbidden Door" dream opponent is Jun Akiyama, who is working in DDT.

When we asked him about the child he ran over in storyline in TNA, he plead the fifth, quite literally, saying "I wasn't there and don't know anything!"

He prefers 98 Degrees over Backstreet Boys or NSYNC and says he'd end up stabbing Cesaro or CM Punk with a fork if they ate salads together. The craziest weapon he's ever seen was when he was younger and a friend corked a wiffle ball bat with rocks and put nails into it.

Kingston tells us he went into the AEW debut without any expectations and had sold his gear a couple of days before that. The person who bought it returned it and said they only did it to support him later on. He wanted a good showing and was happy that Cody was game to have the kind of match that highlighted both of them. He was just happy to have a payday and didn't believe it'd lead to anything else. Although he doesn't hang his hat on crowd reactions, the one at Double or Nothing 2021 was cool to him, and he said that Jon Moxley predicted it for him.
