Deonna Purrazzo News: AEW debut, Missing SCOH, ROH wanting to sign her
Added 2022-05-02 01:03:53 +0000 UTCFightful spoke to Deonna Purrazzo ahead of her AEW debut and IMPACT Under Siege.
She had an insane couple of weeks going from Rebellion in New York, to IMPACT media in Cincy, AAA in Mexico, over to AEW in Baltimore, and back into the Kentucky/Cincy area for Under Siege. We spoke about her AEW appearance, and she said it was a long time coming but that she's known pretty well since before Supercard of Honor that it was coming. It would have been difficult for her to make both Multiverse and Supercard of Honor, so it was agreed upon that eventually she'd work an AEW date to unify the titles. She said it was a blessing in disguise because she had developed a hemotoma on her leg after catching a dive and could barely walk up the steps much less work two matches in the same night. Scott D'Amore called her and informed her what Tony Khan's pitch was an everything worked out.
Purrazzo confirmed a 2020 Fightful Select report that ROH had tried to sign her following her WWE release. However, she'd verbally committed to an IMPACT Wrestling contract by then and didn't want to go back on that. She said that Delirious and Bobby Cruise had discussed using her with Scott D'Amore, but it didn't happen in 2020, so they circled back in 2021 and made it a reality.
She was scheduled for All In back in 2018, but was told by WWE her contract wouldn't be there if she did. Growing up being in WWE was her dream and she couldn't pass it up, but did regret not being in the ring with Chelsea Green and Britt Baker. However, she believes that can still happen and will be bigger now than it would have been then.
