Mikey Rukus recounts last minute changes for AEW Halloween and Dinner Debonair music

Fightful spoke to AEW music guru Mikey Rukus for an enlightening interview, and we'll have several music scoops on it this week.

Rukus confirmed a Fightful Select story that AEW had planned a Squid Games inspired Halloween match with the Elite, but shortly before the show they got word that it couldn't happen. Kenny Omega called him and asked how quickly he could put something Ghostbusters inspired together. Rukus already knew what he had in mind, but ended up losing a bunch of progress to a technical error. Rukus had the track to the production truck three minutes into the show.

There was a major error on Dinner Debonair that Rukus recounted as well. They got the Frank Sinatra track cleared with his estate, but there was no instrumental as it had been produced so long ago. Instead of ripping the vocals and destroying the integrity of the recording, he looked for karaoke tracks to use, but none actually had licensed the song and just used it illegally. Rukus personally recreated the track himself, but in the middle of editing the scene, the wrong track got put in. Jericho and MJF actually performed to the unlicensed track and there was a panic in if they could even use it. Rukus had AEW send him the video file, and synced it up himself. They ended up getting the corrected file to the production truck 15 minutes before the show. Jericho hadn't heard the final track until an hour before Dynamite.
