Fightful spoke with "Cowboy" James Storm, who elaborated on his nixed WWE run

He was in talks to come to the company in 2020, at the urging of Paul Heyman. Storm has discussed this with Ryan Satin in the past, noting that once Paul Heyman was out of power on Raw, the deal just effectively went away. Storm claims he physically signed a contract after Canyon Ceman reached out to him. The plan was for Storm to help talent learn to wrestle on TV, and said his promo abilities helped him get considered for the spot. He even was backstage at ta Raw in Atlanta, and got in a little bit of trouble for appearing on a backstage video with Paige.

Road Dogg actually reached out to James Storm to make the NXT run happen in 2015. Storm came in and went over the plans on what he'd be doing while on Triple H's bus. Storm also said he laughed when he noticed reaction shots from his NXT appearance were used in a John Cena video package down the line.

Since that didn't work out, Storm worked in IMPACT in 2020 and NWA in 2021. He's doing a lot of acting work now as well, and is in the Screen Actors Guild.

Storm said that Sting was very good to him throughout all the times they worked, would let him ride along when he needed a car. Even though Storm never beat Sting, he noted that Sting pushed for Storm to go over at one point.

Speaking of his time in TNA, Storm mentioned that he and Serg Salinas, Dixie Carter's husband, wrote his popular "Longnecks and Rednecks" theme song.

When Chris Harris went to WWE, the two went their separate ways, and there was bad blood between the two. That stemmed from Harris going to WWE without Storm, who had a year left on his deal. Storm claims that WWE wanted them both, and Harris was warned by TNA higher ups to not go without Storm. In all, Storm couldn't blame him for wanting to go, but thinks it would have went different if they both went. Storm had a "Best of Braden Walker" collection DVD and had Chris sign it.
