Rumors Of ROH Sale Still Rampant, ROH Plans Moving Forward

ROH has been on hiatus the last several months, and many wondered if the company would ever actually return as they claimed. Fightful has learned more about their upcoming plans.

Ring of Honor is set to return on April 1 for Supercard of Honor, and we're told there are planned dates well past April in addition to that. ROH will have some familiar faces involved, and has still operated as a company and employed some of the same people throughout the hiatus to help promote the company's content along the way.

In addition, we've heard of ROH reaching out to new faces to put on their show as far back as January, with some of those revealed tonight. Those that we've heard about will be working on a freelance basis, which is what we've been told to expect for the majority of the people involved in the brand moving forward. However, there are tentative dates set well past April, all the way up until the end of the year that involve television tapings.

There have been several wrestlers from outside companies booked for the Supercard of Honor show who had to get approval before being booked.

On Tuesday afternoon, Fightful got word from people across multiple wrestling companies that there had been overtures regarding a possible sale or partnership. Beyond those rumors, we've heard that in the past two years, even before the hiatus there were inquiries as to the cost of what it would take to acquire the company. A rumor within the wrestling world claimed that price point was "significant" in 2020. In asking within ROH, we weren't given an official comment, but were told that there were "way more bidders than expected" and that multiple wrestling companies and a few media companies have been involved in discussions at some point.

While these numbers are far from confirmed, Fightful has heard chatter of three price points that had been rumored over the last two years. One source high up in another company heard directly from a person who claimed to be in talks regarding buying ROH in early 2020 that $40M was a discussed price point, with a person close to the company claiming they heard the price was half that. However, a person within ROH had indicated to Fightful that an independently wealthy fan that wasn't in the wrestling business made an effort to purchase it more recently than that and was quoted for $30M for 50 percent of the company. Again, these numbers, or even discussions have not been confirmed by ROH.

Word had made it's way throughout several wrestlers who had been in ROH or had been connected to the company that a possible sale was still on the table.

Doesn't make sense if Tony bought ROH and them announcing a card for April 1st? Unless that's there only scheduled date.

Could Tony buy part of NJPW and include their content into streaming with AEW for HBO max?? Is ROH "international" enough to fit the current reports?
