More details on Chris Jericho's deal with AEW
Added 2022-02-16 16:31:35 +0000 UTCIt's contract season, but not for Chris Jericho.
In 2019, outlets reported that Chris Jericho had a three-year AEW contract, that would have put him with the company through the end of 2021, or into early 2022. With the first round of AEW contracts expiring, Fightful inquired about the status of Jericho's deal with the company. We were told that there are "roughly two years remaining" on the contract, which would carry him at least through 2023. On last night's Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that AEW picked up a two-year option on Chris Jericho, which would be in line what we've also heard.

Naw. I would have rather them kept Cody. Jericho is on his way out. He’s done his job to me. With Cody he’s got so many things he left on the table. IMO.
2022-02-16 20:42:26 +0000 UTCdid you mean AEW keeping Jericho over Cody then?

2022-02-16 17:16:36 +0000 UTCI agree on AEW retaining Cody over Jericho. Jericho was always one of the main guys in WWE. Cody was mid-card there forsure. I just wonder if they will give him some creative control once he officially signs with them.
2022-02-16 16:44:38 +0000 UTCJericho is easily one of my top 3 wrestlers of all time. I remember seeing him live at an ECW show in a gym in suburban Philly, the Lionheart. Pre-WCW days. Dude has evolved, won championships everywhere, and is one of the best promos. I cant think of anyone who has had as many different character roles as he has, and nailed most of them. I hope he doesnt turn his back on the sport for money like Cody did, and help the youngsters grow.

2022-02-16 16:37:19 +0000 UTCAgreed seems like that is the direction he’s going. Good to see him around still doing his thing.

2022-02-16 16:35:37 +0000 UTCAgreed he seems like he’s ready to start that full transition into music/his post wrestling career
2022-02-16 16:35:17 +0000 UTCSmart of him. I think we will see him phase out of wrestling in the next two years and more of a personality or backstage person.
