Another name discussed backstage as potential Royal Rumble entrant
Added 2022-01-26 19:06:59 +0000 UTCMany possibilities for Royal Rumble entrants have been discussed, and Fightful has learned of another that has been thrown around quite a bit of late.
Kairi Sane hasn't competed for WWE in a year and a half, but we've heard that her name has been pitched as a possible Royal Rumble entry for this weekend. Sane left the United States in the Summer of 2020 and returned to Japan, where she's remained with WWE in an official capacity as an ambassador. She's also done commentary work for WWE in Japan.
Sane's last match was in July of 2020, not wrestling at all in 2021. Prior to that, she'd been involved in a tag team with Asuka, reaching the tag team titles and being included in a feud with Becky Lynch and Charlotte.
Please note that as mentioned in our Inside The Royal Rumble features, even notable talent are sometimes not told until the day before the show that they'll be needed for the Rumble match. Nothing is confirmed until they actually appear, and despite the cliche, plans do change often and quickly, especially for the Royal Rumble during the pandemic.

2022-01-26 19:48:49 +0000 UTCIt makes total sense they would discuss Kairi Sane-but this would require a lot of planning to get her back in the country, and travel also carries risk of infection or another covid outbreak in WWE. Maybe this isn't the time to bring people in without a good 5 day quarantine? Assuming WWE even wants to test. Also a rumble has a lot of people in the ring at once...so...if one person later tests positive...that could expose a whole lot of talent at once.

2022-01-26 19:41:09 +0000 UTCI'm reeeeally skeptical about this one, I mean she seems very active in Japan (see her Twitter), removed all her WWE references on social media and if they ask people at short notice, Japan's travel rules are currently very harsh and not ideal for quick back and forth travel.
