IMPACT Wrestler was offered deal right after leaving WWE
Added 2022-01-06 17:48:35 +0000 UTCFightful spoke to undefeated IMPACT Wrestling star Steve Maclin ahead of IMPACT Hard To Kill.
Maclin said that he and Trey Miguel worked heavily with Shawn Daivari in setting up their match in July, and he said they all pretty well knew where they were going from that point on, and it's continued for the five months since.
Originally, IMPACT wanted to bring him in a tag team, but Maclin spoke with Westin (formerly Wesley) Blake and said that it was important to him that he at least try a singles run. Blake was said to be okay with it and understood.
The day his WWE contract was up, he knew he'd be heading to IMPACT Wrestling, and he had conversations were through D-Lo Brown and Tommy Dreamer. He'd visited IMPACT in 2020 during a set of tapings with Deonna Purrazzo, as well. They liked the style of his vignettes and were going to recreate them, but decided to just run them as-is with some of the music changed.

Maclin, much like Deonna, has been the perfect example of seeing how talented someone is when you let them have more creative freedom. Love the work he’s done so far with Impact! Hope he sticks around for a long time.
