AEW wrestler had heat with talent over social media conduct
Added 2021-12-23 18:06:49 +0000 UTCSeveral AEW wrestlers at this week's set of tapings told us that Anthony Ogogo's comments towards Jonathan Gresham weren't looked upon favorably by them, especially considering Jonathan Gresham and Jordynne Grace made it clear they weren't participating in an angle. One wrestler told us that they don't believe Ogogo was genuine in the comments, and believe he was trying to work an angle with a hot soon-to-be-free-agent talent, but by the time Gresham made it clear it wasn't a work, Ogogo was too far in to take his foot off the gas pedal.
It wasn't made clear if anyone within the company had spoken to Ogogo directly about it, and the heat wasn't said to be substantial. Most that Fightful spoke to indicated that Gresham is well respected across wrestling, and should have been given a heads up if he was going to be involved in someone else's work. There were others that we spoke with that said they prefer not to be clued in on social media "works" so they can create and give genuine reactions and responses.
Those that we spoke to don't believe this is anything that can't be fixed, recovered, or forgotten about, but most that knew Gresham personally assume he'll just handle it interpersonally and the situation would be solved.

But the angles he tried to work online were never going to lead to anything. And they didn’t. I’m not talking about what May or may not have led to his call up to the main roster.

Guy tried to start 3 angles for matches in one year and none of em happened or wanted anything to do with it. I don’t know Ogogo. Hopefully he just apologizes and moves on and focuses on people in his own company.

2021-12-23 21:48:55 +0000 UTCOgogo said Gresham winning the ROH title reminded him of Hornswoggle winning the cruiserweight title, called it "super cute" and said "congrats kiddo." Grace responded by basically calling Ogogo a rookie; Ogogo was then very condescending to her in response, pretended not to know who she was, and it escalated from there. Ogogo basically started bullying Gresham for being short, wearing braces, etc. Gresham said "just to be clear, we're not working an angle, this dude is taking legit shots at us" and Grace wound up deactivating her account after a few days of this. Hornswoggle also took offense, since Ogogo was indirectly insulting him to bully Gresham.

2021-12-23 20:27:42 +0000 UTCWith the amount of trolling & harassment Grace otherwise receives, I can imagine why she wouldn't want to put up a with, at least, the material Ogogo was throwing out there. Even if all three of them were "working" together, Ogogo's insults would not have made a potential match vs Gresham any more appealing.
