Adam Cole Mattel video news

We have a several people asking about whether or not the Mattel video advertised by WWE and streamed tonight was an indicator that Adam Cole was staying.

Fightful confirmed with WWE sources that he and Johnny Gargano actually filmed a few weeks ago, well before his contract expiration and is no indication one way or another of his future plans.

This is all I want now.

The JR's BBQ A1 steak sauce tournament?

Completely wild, guess only based on previous behavior by them... there will be a tease on BTE on Monday. I'm almost positive AC is on his way to AEW, but that is really just fueled by Sean's Radicalz post and commentary on yesterday's Q&A.

I love this sentiment. This needs to be in AEWs plans

I’ve been thinking and looking at the potential new roster they’ll have…imagine an AEW only G1 style tournament. Block A Kenny Omega, Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley, Darby Allin, Jungle Boy, Lance Archer, PAC, Malakai Black Block B Miro, CM Punk, Adam Cole, Eddie Kingston, MJF, Sammy Guevara, Adam Page, Andrade I’m probably missing people too, I could’ve easily included the Lucha Bros and other tags. But good god man. The male roster is absolutely stacked.

I mean, Adam Cole rules.

David Blumberg

Man this is just.... Oh Boy haha. The anticipation for an answer is insane.

Sorry, that got real long. 😂

A lot of people bring up "recent call ups" as a reason not to stay. I'd point out Damian Priest is US Champ and 6 of the 12 main roster champs are NXT people (sorry Reggie the 24/7 doesn't count). And of the 6 that aren't only Bobby Lashley isn't in aulti-generational wrestling family (no that doesn't necessarily mean anything but I'll give it some credit). So while yes some really bad call-ups have happened and are confusing (Kross, Retrubution, and I'm sure others I'm not thinking of at the moment) I wouldn't categorically say it's bad for Cole to stay. He has value and I'd like to think the company sees that. But at the end of the day he will decide what he thinks is best for him based on all the factors. I do stand by my opinion that AWE is going to get crowded with new top talent soon and while an obvious place for him to land it may not be a good one for a while either because of it. But with his friends there who knows.

Cole is a bit different than the other recent call-ups I’d say. He was in NXT for a long time and by all indications he’s practically Shawn and Hunter’s son. Now Vince has taken a liking to him. They’ve booked him strong, hell they had him pin Bryan clean on Smackdown. I think WWE really values him and they contract will reflect that.

Something I've been thinking about this afternoon - even if the mass NXT releases didn't deter Cole from re-signing, seeing what they did to Kross on RAW this week might have rendered that an impossibility...

Sean, I found something on wikipedia a little bit ago. I am a new subscriber as of yesterday, but have been following your work for a while. Anyways, point is, someone on Wikipedia decided to say Fightful reported that Cole asked for his release. I don't remember you guys reporting that unless I missed a post.

Ashley

Don't get why people would actually want him to stay in WWE. Just look at how they treated the last handful of NXT greats that got "called up"
