Update On Pete Dunne's WWE Status, Contract

We'd noted recently that Pete Dunne was in a very similar boat as Adam Cole, in that WWE were surprised to learn their deals were coming up soon, and extensions were provided.

During Summerslam weekend in Las Vegas, Fightful was informed that WWE had indeed offered Pete Dunne a contract extension recently. The length of the offered extension has not been confirmed and varied based on who we spoke to, but the offer was confirmed by an anonymous WWE rep.

We have not heard if Dunne has re-signed or if he plans to.

WWe is tweeting about a promotional event with Mattel that includes Adam Cole. Is that just part of his current deal or something more?

You'd think, but given some of the recent NXT releases, I don't think anyone can say for sure.

David Blumberg

Any detail on how soon is "soon"? Is this like Cole where his deal is up on the 27th or is it further into September. Course now that I'm thinking about it, if you felt solid about a date, you would have reported it already so... yeah... I feel dumb now.

Patrick Henson

Isn't his appearance on NXT last night more or less proof that he had resigned? Especially because he was positioned as one of the guys to challenge for Joe's belt, it's bad booking, even by WWE standards, to have somebody not under contract in the title picture.

Vaxildidi

Is it "surprised their deals are coming up" or "surprised that gap extensions covering the brand kill had not been implemented"?

TraptinAmerica

I’d love him on Strong.

Jim La Rose

Maybe he feuds with Joe next and that’ll be his swan song.

Shaun V.

he had his own promotion, right? maybe it's time to maket that happen for real.

I mean, they basically set up Dunne and Joe this week. I haven’t read the spoilers for the next two weeks but I’d assume they’d need to pay that off next week or not at all if he’s only signed until the end of august. I don’t know. In my opinion, I think he’s staying

Joel Wood

I'd guess he re-signs, obv I don't know but I think he's planned to be a main guy in NXT. The way he's been presented is as a guy who can feasibly beat any of the main-eventers there, he's not 6ft but he is only 27. In any case, I feel that the likelihood of him signing is more than Adam Cole, like if Adam's 50/50 then I'd guess he's like 70/30 staying.

Joe Donovan

resigned and re-signed aren't the same!

Fightful Select

I think he should go to NJPW. He’d be great in AEW but isn’t a must for them. Maybe even NJPW Strong ?

Damian Bushay

Based on the going’s on of NXT I’m assuming he’s re-signed. Either that or Ridge Holland kills him by the end of September.

Kyle Cotton

They really don’t understand a lot of things.

BennyIllini

If only there were still a great English scene he could turn back too if he didn't want to stay stateside.

Will Landrum

I don’t understand this “WWE was surprised to learn their deals were coming up” Is there not somebody whose job it is to keep track of this stuff?
