More on Samoa Joe back to NXT, other names discussed
Added 2021-06-14 15:25:27 +0000 UTCAs noted by Fightful last week, Samoa Joe is headed back to WWE
Triple H was a major proponent of Joe coming back to NXT, and wanted him almost immediately upon hearing of his initial release. Joe was at the Performance Center last Tuesday speaking with officials, Triple H among them. There were numerous releases over the past 14 months that NXT had discussed trying to bring in, but didn't end up happening, and actually at least one of the recently released stars pitched for a return to NXT but were shot down.
We're told there's a plan in order already for what Joe will do in NXT, but that role is open to expansion if all parties agree.

Alright then that’s on me. From now on I will be careful with how I phrase things so as not to give the wrong impression.

2021-06-15 03:09:01 +0000 UTCI don't hate you, I hate when you present an uninformed opinion as objective fact.

2021-06-15 02:24:45 +0000 UTCYou’re still my go to for news Sean. I don’t know why you hate me so much lol. But it is what it is. If what I said came off differently than I intended then that’s my fault. I’m simply trying to portray the other side of things that, IN MY OPINION, doesn’t get looked at often enough. Maybe I could’ve explained it better but we are obviously not going to agree on this so I’m done trying. Have a nice night, Sean.

2021-06-15 02:22:34 +0000 UTCYou're literally generalizing. That's you. Maybe read your own posts compared to mine. I don't generalize in my comments, my posts, my reports. You do. "If morale is so bad, why do so many stay?" Blanket statements. Move on. Thanks!
Fightful Select
2021-06-15 02:10:03 +0000 UTCBad morale among the ones not being used maybe. You’re(well maybe not you specifically) generalizing it to the WHOLE LOCKER ROOM. Also, if they’re paying people more than ever and AEW is matching it, then it’s kind of a moot point. Bloated roster=more releases than ever. Tell it for what it is. I express my opinion the same way everyone else does on here. The only difference is I’m willing to actually debate it and explain my opinion. I may not have inside scoops or know what you know but I know more than you think. All I’m saying is, you basically said just because some guys are happy there doesn’t mean the morale isn’t bad. Well just because some aren’t happy doesn’t mean the morale is bad. All I ask is to not generalize it to the whole locker room because a lot of people both current and former stars don’t have the issues that others did or do
Joel Wood
2021-06-15 01:54:37 +0000 UTCNope. Nowhere near as many wrestlers let their contracts expire, asked for their release during the Monday Night Wars as there have been since 2019. "Now compare the people who have passed on contracts and got released versus those who have signed new contracts. If you wanna talk about morale, do it both ways. " That's a stupid fucking comparison for reasons highlighted in this thread -- THEY WERE PAYING PEOPLE MORE MONEY THAN EVER BEFORE AND STILL COULDN'T KEEP DOZENS OF PEOPLE. "Or did you stop to think the most requests and releases ever MIGHT coincide with the fact they have the largest talent roster they’ve ever had?" No shit? Gee, maybe thats...................bad morale!
Fightful Select
2021-06-15 01:33:13 +0000 UTCA lot of people passed or didn’t sign new contracts during the Monday night wars. Now compare the people who have passed on contracts and got released versus those who have signed new contracts. If you wanna talk about morale, do it both ways. Or did you stop to think the most requests and releases ever MIGHT coincide with the fact they have the largest talent roster they’ve ever had?

2021-06-15 00:45:02 +0000 UTC"If morale was so bad, a lot more people than the most people of all-time would be asking for releases" is quite a take. The most requests for releases ever. The most releases in a 14 months period ever The most people to pass on WWE contracts in a five year period ever.
Fightful Select
2021-06-15 00:29:56 +0000 UTCI don’t have an issue with it. Also the information about the Young bucks I got from their book. I figure that was a pretty good source of information. I also mentioned Bennett asking for his release after the contract. It was literally one month later, must have been a lot of empty promises in that month. I never present anything as fact. I never claim to have inside information or that I talk to people everyday about it. I’m not even saying they shouldn’t have asked for releases. What I am saying is, if the morale was so bad, then a lot more people would be asking out. Asking out because you’re not being used is fine but you’re correlating that to morale being low in the entire locker room. That’s the only view point of yours I oppose.
Joel Wood
2021-06-15 00:26:10 +0000 UTCIt's ironic because you don't actually know shit. Bennett also asked for his release AFTER getting that contract. He cited empty promises. Oh. Again, you're applying situations from one person from a bloated roster to the entire roster. Yes, not being used does often correlate with morale. So does the terrible show. I speak with people about it every day. Funny you mention "these people say they almost signed with WWE." I know. I spoke with them personally about it. They didn't sign there. "Morale after the screwjob was the shits" -- yeah, and Foley, Crush, Rude, Bulldog and Neidhart left. What's your point. No, I lash out at YOUR opposing viewpoint because it's not an opposing viewpoint, it's an objective falsehood backed up with personal experience (of which you have none) and the information I provided. I don't care about opinions. I care about your opinions being presented as fact on our platform however, especially when they're easily refuted. Something you seem to have an issue with.

2021-06-15 00:06:39 +0000 UTCYou calling me a know it all maybe the most ironic thing I’ve heard today. Secondly, the Young bucks even said in their book they were close to signing. Had it not been for AEW, they would have. That’s been well documented. Chris Jericho said himself on his podcast that Vince told him to sign with AEW(then later regretted it). Good for those guys asking for releases. You take offense everytime somebody even THINKS to challenge you on anything. Nobody disrespected you. Literally almost everybody you mentioned was not being used so they SHOULD ask for their release. “Not being used” does not translate to “the morale backstage sucks”. It means you weren’t being used so you wanted to take your talents elsewhere which I completely understand. But if WWE was so goddamn bad, then why do people keep going there? Why did Kross sign? Even some of the guys released (Bennett, Maria, Good brothers) signed new contracts shortly BEFORE their releases and then asked for them again a month later(Bennett). So yeah, my apologies for not knowing every single talent on the indie scene and whether they wrestle or not. But “not being used” and “backstage morale is the shits” do not go together. Morale after the screw job was the shits. All people are here are disappointed their friends are getting let go. I still respect your opinion Sean even if you lash out every time I present an opposing viewpoint

2021-06-14 23:59:02 +0000 UTCOr maybe you're just a smarmy know-it-all, who thinks that less than an hour after not being able to google whether or not Salina De La Renta wrestles, you know more than someone who talks to dozens of these wrestlers daily about content/discontent. Weird, because Moxley, PAC, Andrade, Sin Cara, FTR, Brodie Lee, Renee, Cathy, Kairi Sane, Killer Kelly, Dustin Rhodes, Shawn Spears, Miro, Cardona, Mike Bennett, Tay Conti, Maria all chose to ask for their releases or not sign new deals. Young Bucks, Cody, Kenny Omega, Christian Cage, Chris Jericho, Ortiz, Santana all passed up WWE contracts. But that's okay. I guess you naming those people from an era where WCW was handing out larger contracts makes a lot more sense than about 20 people wanting out of a place where they were making more money than they ever had. Same thing! You have this weird ass "well some people are fine there, so it's all good" mentality. No shit! Stop applying weird ass blanket statements. It is an objective fact that more people have asked for their releases or chose to not sign new deals in the last five years than ever before in WWE history. It started with Cody, Hager, Ryback and Barrett all passing on new deals in 2016 and it has accelerated to outright release requests. Literally none of the people you mentioned asked for their releases. Their deals expired, they were outright released, they didn't have deals, or they were lowballed. OOPS! Also, if you don't like it here, hit the bricks pal. Don't wanna send you down a bottomless pit of depression when you don't wanna be here.
Fightful Select
2021-06-14 23:43:05 +0000 UTCAlso to your point, I find it hilarious that several of the releases wanted out but when they get let go, WWE are evil for firing people, but if they kept them, they’re evil for keeping stars who want out.
Joel Wood
2021-06-14 23:41:04 +0000 UTCWell of course Sean. I mean, you’re never wrong. Those 9 people I listed were way bigger stars than Shawn Spears. Why is Joe going back then? You said yourself he’s set so money isn’t a factor? Why haven’t more guys asked for releases? Why did the Usos or AJ sign new contracts? Or New Day? Have we heard of discontent with guys like Owens or Zayn? Firing people always brings down morale anywhere but some of you try way too hard to portray it as this bottomless pit of depression and nobody wants to be there and everybody wants out and yet people keep going back and keep signing when there are a TON more options out there.
Joel Wood
2021-06-14 23:28:33 +0000 UTCWell good job being wrong Joel, but no, more people have left on their own since AEW started, whether you enjoy them or not. Even a bunch of the releases had asked out
Fightful Select
2021-06-14 23:10:24 +0000 UTC"Numerous releases that NXT was trying to bring in..." I feel like that might suggest two things 1) HHH is left outta the loop in personnel decisions? (Yes I'm questioning that!) 2) NXT brass sees a lot of the same potential a lot of us do and VInce can't swallow his pride and admit he's way outta touch with fans...

2021-06-14 20:21:41 +0000 UTCI hope he comes in as Regals muscle.
Cory Bradley
2021-06-14 19:43:02 +0000 UTCI'm wondering if he did search out other options (ROH, AEW, Impact), and no other promotion would clear him physically to wrestle again, so he's going back to WWE to be an authority figure or something since they have the money to pay people to not wrestle.
Raymond Slover
2021-06-14 18:53:24 +0000 UTCHe doesn’t need the money

2021-06-14 16:57:47 +0000 UTCIdk .., like people do what they gotta do I get that but if I was released and they didn't see my value I wouldn't go back Id make them seethe seeing me thrive elsewhere but money talks
ARose Lab
2021-06-14 16:43:59 +0000 UTCPretty sure it’s not hell there. Otherwise nobody would want to go there, he will be better off in nxt than he would anywhere else
Matt
2021-06-14 15:58:21 +0000 UTCDamn I was hoping to see him on a big stage again. Don't mind him going back to WWE but I feel like NXT is a whole 20 steps back for him. But he made the decision and hes getting paid so good for him.
Jose Bautista
2021-06-14 15:52:55 +0000 UTCThis is a real solid statement. I hope this goes all the way thru.

2021-06-14 15:50:15 +0000 UTCJoe is set
Fightful Select
2021-06-14 15:41:07 +0000 UTCPeople need to understand it is about securing his future. If he can’t wrestle anymore (big If) then WWE is a good place to go because there are multiple non wrestling roles he can have there besides being a GM or whatever he’s gonna be doing. Regal was on air GM but he had a way more important role behind the scenes. Joe could provide valuable knowledge in that area
Joel Wood
2021-06-14 15:37:36 +0000 UTCWonder if it means no one else cleared him to wrestle full-time or whatever
Brian Bayless
2021-06-14 15:37:15 +0000 UTCI'm glad that it looks like he has job security, given his age and WWE's inability to clear him. I imagine he's the new NXT GM.
Brian Streleckis
2021-06-14 15:36:15 +0000 UTCHe's a person with multiple options so it gives me hope for the quality of NXT that he chose it over the others.

2021-06-14 15:29:23 +0000 UTCSad we wont see Joe outside of Vinces hell. Feckin looked forward to it. Yeye. Hopefully big Samoa gets his moolah
