Gameplay Update #11: In-Game Dialogue Samples

Hey everyone!

Sorry, we were supposed to post this two days ago but internet was down. Better late than never right?

We're trying out different dialogue box skins and implementing them to work during gameplay.

Arie or Rel will sometimes make a comment when many enemies are destroyed by one projectile or when you miss a enemy.

There will be times when they make small talk when no actions are performed for a period of time.

Yeah, it's tough. The same can happen even in story-heavy games if you get a character who dies or leaves early. Like "how am I donna flesh them out so their departure is impactful when they're only in 2 scenes?"

Very true. Due to the fact that this game is very gameplay driven with little room for story, we will have to slip them in through gameplay like this. I'm glad you like the look of the box!

The bit dialogue is really important for showing character personality in a general environment. Whereas the story is under direct circumstances, this stuff is a better example of a character's day-to-day and how they interact in a vacuum (not the vacuum of space. just... you know. without story). So I'm really glad to see that you're thinking about it. Also, that's a fine textbox you're using. icons and windows are an often-overlooked aspect. They don't need to be overly complex. Something simple and attractive like you have here works great and fits the space theme.
