The colors will be almost as specific as we want to be at the end and our main focus will be to establish the éxisting values as colors without too much contradiction.

2021-01-12 10:41:25 +0000 UTCHi Gilberto, I can remember using some gel mediums when I was a student and I found they were satisfactory. When oiling out with, for instance, Rublev's Oleogel I recall a slight sheen or disruption of the light from the fumed silica that I didn't like- hence now I only use linseed oil.

2021-01-12 10:40:29 +0000 UTCSpeaking of techniques, I would like to hear your opinion and recommendation for use of medium to "correct" the situation with dry-sinking effect of paint on canvas. You advice to use just the right amount of medium, never too much, to stop the sticking factor and let the brush flow better. What is your thought about using gel medium, like the Gambling solvent-free gel, instead of linseed oil medium to improve brush flow?

At some point in this second video you seem to "throw the book" of named techniques in this painting, like scumbling, glazing, velatura... are all going through your thought process as you do the work, this is very reassuring to me, as a learner of techniques, about the dynamic freedom that goes on in the painting process. Very neat.
