I get that, but Jonny is still getting it taken away by his fathers ability to engulf everything he does. Remember when he was a mess the first time his father came around, blackmailing him and then beating him up? Do I think Garrett and Jonny should’ve come up with a plan together? Yes. But do I think Jon would’ve confessed his father had contacted him again? No. I don’t like that Garrett snooped, but at the same time he has only been trying to do something to protect Jonny because he knows he has a gentle heart and sometimes it takes someone used to being callous to do such a thing for someone else.

Let's be very clear. To those who are saying garret should have not done that. But what about the physical and mental abuse he saw Jhonny was facing. Not doing anything and ignoring is not the right answer. I am 100% on Garrett Side. Would love to have such amazing person in my life.

boundaries matter, GArret. BUT: abusers know exactly how to manipulate their vicitms and so Jonny really does have a huge blind spot here. He thinks he has things under control but Garret is right- it was only a matter of time before he was face down in a ditch again.

Yeah but Jon clearly can’t see the abusive relationship he has with his father and keeps going back to him putting his life in danger. Sometimes when you are in an abusive relationship you need people to step in and so for you what you won’t do for yourself.

Garret’s by far. John has a very abusive relationship with his father and it seams like he just can’t see it. His life is in danger with that man and if Garret doesn’t step in who knows what could happen. Yeah, it’s wrong to do things behind someone’s back but if that person is blinded by their feeling and can’t see the abusive relationship they are in, then someone needs to do something.

I’m on Johnny’s side with this. I understand Garrett was doing what he thought was best, but having your own agency taken away like this is not on, at all. It can make you feel trapped and afraid in a different way.

It’s a complicated relationship and it could cause more trouble of what Garrett did... 😕 but there’s always consequences to things like this.

Hmmm, going behind Jonny’s back, not speaking to him, not trusting him or allowing Jonny any autonomy or independence is not cool. Garrett acting out of love so sweet but good intentions without consent have consequences.

Both, but more Garrett. He was only trying to protect Jonny. It wasn’t the best approach, as it would always carry this consequence, but it was done out of love. Jonny has a right to be angry, but hopefully he sees that Garett was trying to protect him from further abuse and harm. That said, Jonny must be able to deal with his own issues, and Garret stepping in totally strips him of autonomy in creating his own boundaries with family.

I"m on both their sides. They have a difference of opinion... Garrett needs to explain his side, as does Johnny... then they need to get mad and have hot make up sex and appreciate that they both have strong personalities
