Nestbox beta 7: faster network, bug fixes
Added 2023-01-01 19:21:01 +0000 UTCNestbox is an app that makes it easy to run Linux VMs on the Pixel 6 (with root) and 7 (without root).
Changes
- 2x faster network (throughput)
- Port forwarding bug fixes
- Fixed forwarding for ports 8443, 8023, and 2222
- Lower background CPU usage
- Fixed WireGuard (wg-quick)
I've also written an entirely new networking stack that addresses all network-related issues and feature requests. It supports IPv6, ICMP ping, and improves reliability and performance significantly, especially on low-quality networks (e.g. cellular data). It'd likely be a couple times faster (up to 37 Gbps on macOS — obviously less on Android, but still better), but unfortunately it's not currently usable on Android due to what appears to be a Linux kernel bug that breaks the network connection very often.
