Saturday Extra: The Ding Dong

Good morning! My Saturday Extra is a long little ramble on the microphone! Nudity, Comedy god singalongs and a little check in/end of year assessment of our very own, good old Office Hours!

Enjoy! And sincere love and thanks for all your support! Happy Holidays!

Wow! What a dream hang. Wonderful that you were able to stay cool and contribute, jamming with your heroes. It’s a shame the Guest films appeared to have stopped. Tim, seems you’d fit so perfectly with that crew. Thanks for sharing the stories!

"Right, let's have a ding dong!" (let's all re-watch the Visitors sketch...) That Old Man party sounds like heaven, tbh. Bought Glengarry Glen Ross Broadway tickets a couple days ago for end of May, couldn't miss that shit. Bob and Michael McKean? Gas up the old Peter Pan bus.

Eric Idle talking about his times with Beatle George on OHL would be a dream.

Love your slice-of-life, Tim, like a “from our family to yours” kind of feeling. Happy belated birthday to Marilyn! She sounds cool and I hope her finals went well. As a former 8-year college student I empathize with the grind and also admire people who do school with family. Respect. Your awe and excitement about the party really comes through in audio, good call. Nothing like a good ramble. You really do surround yourself with great art colleagues. I’ll never be a performer (I pretended to be sick so I didn’t have to perform at an honors piano recital) but I know how getting energized and inspired really matters. Your experience sounded so invigorating, especially since those titans you sang with are in similar genres of art to you and paved so many paths. Very cool. I do have non-serious and seriouser asides for you: Non-serious: Our tastes align once again–I love movies from stage plays and loved Glengarry Glen Ross. So much powerful acting. Thanks for the heads up about your art uncles going on Broadway. My best friend and I are actually visiting my sister on the East coast and I’ve now started Operation: let’s go to Broadway. (my friend has even seen more Better Call Saul than me and hesitated. Wish me luck!) Seriouser: I appreciate you opening up about your thoughts for your upcoming tour. I definitely see how it’s different, how you don’t have that comedy “in” to shape people’s expectations, to provide an appetizer, in a way. But I do think your tone and delivery can be game-changers. I say this after watching the footage of your “Why am I Like This” performance at the Thing Festival. (I apologize for the small sample size, I’m a lazy Timhead). I was amazed at how you channeled so much aggressive charm at the audience (like a certain Henry/Harold Hill) and really gave it your all. Look, not everyone will get your non-character humor (like the ones who actually took your Pitchfork 10/10 thing seriously…I mean, c’mon.) But there are plenty who will. I think you giving us your =you= in all its weird glory will be more than enough to supplement your good music. So you be you, I guess. Non serious: I also think I’ve convinced my aforementioned sister to come see you with me so she can gawk at me gawking. I’ll also do my best to catch up on On Cinema in my sickbed and will hopefully be caught up by next Christmas, thank you for your hard work!!

Thanks for all the fun and laughs this year T (and D and V)

Fun to be a fly on the wall of that party through the mental images conjured in the story. I dig the stream of consciousness audio blog format :)

Appreciate the Tim Track. Might be a good idea to ask callers and zoomers what their preferred pronouns are going forward! Also happy birthday to your wife
