I don't have much time today... I'm getting myself ready to go film ON CINEMA SEASON 15 THIS WEEKEND! We'll be announcing it wider this week, but the season begins ON CHRISTMAS DAY!
I got very excited by the enthusiasm for physical media during the show this week. I think we're going to start working on that. It's time.
Guess what? Rachel Zegler made good on her promise and sent Amelia a very, very lovely video. I asked her to send her good vibes for an audition she has for the school play, and Rachel delivered a very inspiring pep talk.
Speaking of, I've spotted some deranged negativity in some of the comments about her popping in, and I was so confused. Then I saw the story that she spoke up after the election, had some harsh words for trump voters, and then retracted... so what? I get it. It's tough to know what to say and how, when, and where to say it. She's young and probably under a ton of pressure to do the right thing all the time. Let's give her a little grace (and I'm sure nearly ALL of you would) I'll chalk some of that negativity up to sad Trump incel trolls polluting the comment section..
Some daft weirdo suggested we were somehow paid by Disney to have her on (DAFFY STUFF!), and someone thought it was beneath me to grovel to a celebrity!!! It's as simple as this: She was in the movie Kyle (my friend) is releasing, and on Instagram, she's always liking my posts,,, so I just asked her to pop into the zoom to say hi to Kyle. I didn't expect she'd have time, but she did, and it was fun! I also think she's just a stupidly talented artist who I respect and don't really care if she's a "celebrity" or not. Seriously, if you slept on Spielberg's "West Side Story", it's not to be missed. I RESPECT the arts! (haha) OK, Zegler rant over!
By the way it was NOT a bit... Kyle is coming on the west coast leg of the tour, so if you live anywhere near SF, Portland, Vancouver or Seattle and you want to see the Moon Man live on stage, get tickets NOW

I have no skin in the game other than being a big physical media nerd and collector, but it just struck me that this might be a great fit. They distribute and manufacture blu-rays (and even VHS) for a bunch of cool film labels (including their sister company Vinegar Syndrome). They make some beautiful collectors' packages for a lot of cult and niche movies and have a pretty large built-in following by now. I think some of their labels would jump at the chance to work with you guys. Just a thought in case you're looking for any guidance. I look forward to whatever you put together!

(I checked Wicked pt 1 out to educate myself and was blown away by a twister of awesome). Sucks Rachel drew out more internet trolls, but I appreciate you speaking up while not dwelling (they love attention). she sounds like she's a rising star, and I hope the idiots don't dim her shine. "I'm Hungry" is so damn catchy. it's a big deal for me that, despite having the same 10 sec snippet randomly repeating in my head, I still like it ✨ good song!

In real life it might be just sarcastic side comments for filler (or rarely said). Online it comes off more as rants. Yuck, buts that's how it is. I'm more concerned that Vic seems to be being paid off by big coffee (see what I did there)

She was on the Cabaret and A Star Is Born (1976) episodes and seems like a very cool person who’s also funny and passionate about movies and theatre. It seems that trolls have been after her for a long time now, but it’s cool to see her moving forward and still being game to go on silly podcasts in spite of that.

Overall, the film reminded me of Stillers movies from the 90s/00s and I thought the “feel” soundtrack and direction were all great. The kids were natural and funny too. It’s an unconventional Christmas movie that still pulls the heartstrings

Only because I rewatch it so frequently and I do fear things I love becoming “lost media.” Imagine if Twin Peaks were gone forever save for original vhs recordings from its first airing????
