Gotta Go, Joe.
Added 2024-06-29 14:07:35 +0000 UTCGood morning from Glendale California! I got back last night and boy am I happy to be home! I left for New York on May13th! Too long!
We wrapped the movie on Thursday night just as the debate was kicking off... we were busy popping champagne and giving warm hugs and speeches of gratitude to tune in, but about 20 minutes into it, I started getting texts from Vic and Doug... oh no... then my mom wrote me "this is so sad..." A few more friends chimed in and I knew a disaster was unfolding... But i had to tune it out and just enjoy the feeling of completing this movie - The stage we were shooting at was right across from a fine corner bar with outdoor seating and we set up camp there to whoop it up and decompress from a wild and hard but ultimately fun experience.
I'll have much for to say about it when (if?) the movie comes out... but the last 3 days were spent acting with one of my absolute heroes, Kevin Kline. Kevin knew my work and I'd gotten to know him prior to shooting, so I wasn't intimidated or nervous. We got along so well, goofing it up on set and off, he joined in a bit of ole Rock and Roll Gary talk as the MHU Dept laughed disapprovingly. It was joyous. I think he'd be game for an Office Hours hang... Will work on that for the fall.
The next morning, I started to absorb the debate from the night before and it was really depressing. I checked out Majority Report's live stream and really felt the enormity of the moment. I even checked out some Morning Joe, because Seder was making the point that Biden only pays attention to those dopes on Morning Joe and a good barometer of how bad it was would be gauged by their reaction. And they were apoplectic - What a momentous event! Overnight you had Democrat establishment voices calling for their President to step down! Holy Shit! I of course have been ad advocate for an Open Convention...
There's a podcast Ezra Klein did earlier this year that made a very compelling case for it. Of course it would be risky, but would it be more risky than continuing to prop up a clearly debilitated man who you cannot make the case is "up for the job?" of winning the election? He may be up for the job of being president... but that's different than winning an election. I understand the argument that a president more than one person... It's an administration of people enacting policies or preventing policies and I'd say I align with the policies of Democratic administrations more-so than Republican administrations. And another 4 years of Joe Biden would just mean an administration that are aligned more with my values and therefore I'd have to cast my vote for him... (Of course Biden's Israel/Palestine policies have been ghastly, but Trump's will be worse... )
An Open Convention would be chaotic and risky but man would it be good TV. On one side you'd have Donald Trump rolling around the country with the same 5 stories about electric boats and transgender weightlifters, with no one specific to attack... on the other side you have a small pool of potential candidates (almost surely younger, more diverse people) making their case for their vision for the future of this country. I think it would be exciting (about as exciting as politics can get) and of course it's not unprecedented as this is how it used to be done! It may break our fever of the eternal campaign, compressing election season into a few months like they do in other civilized democracies.
The open calls from very serious legitimate voices for Joe Biden to consider this should be taken seriously and I think that if Biden and his handlers ignore it, it's hard not to see him as a threat to democracy: a vain, possibly delusional and demented mad king, no longer able to separate the good of the people from his own lust for power. Or he could bow out gracefully with good will and respect.... what will it be Joe?
Anyway.... I wanted to talk about Tim an Toni's Couple's Massage on the Hei Network! Maybe next week!
See you on Tuesday! We've got a really good one planned for the official 300! I'm nervous to take the reigns again after Bobcat and Phil Braun's killer hosting spots...
Please Lord let me rise to the occasion as the brave Trojan men did in the film 300, a film which shall be an inspiration to me and which I will watch many times in preparation.
Peace and Love, T

Heritage Foundation already did the groundwork for Biden's replacement to not appear on the ballot in several states. You're wasting everyone's time and being a goblin.

2024-07-03 16:21:44 +0000 UTCIts still a bummer to hear you continue the liberal adage of "well Trump would be worse." I'm sure in some ways that's true but in other ways, particularly Palestine, its not. Biden and Trump get money from AIPAC, they're proud to demolish everyone and everything in Palestine, and they'll continue to make backdoor deals with defense and energy companies. I'm sure you mean well but any sentence that includes "but Trump" is not received well by me and many others, particularly Palestinian, Arab, and Muslim people here and abroad.

2024-07-02 21:13:43 +0000 UTCMaybe it would be better to not judge by the live video, and simply read a transcript of what he said. My 91 grandmother is completely lucid and coherent, though a little slow. Joe Biden was not

2024-07-01 18:36:44 +0000 UTC“Of course Biden's Israel/Palestine policies have been ghastly, but Trump's will be worse... )” 🚨🚨 Sorry, we are not allowed to say this! Though it is a small kernel of comfort, indulging in this thought is exactly what Biden admin bought and paid for —ie messaging about “concerns” “raising questions” while passing the next blank check away from the camera. We need some self-discipline and honesty here. It can not honestly be said that Trump “would be worse” for Palestine or better for Israel. The best policy analysts are unable to point to any evidence of a meaningful difference. Best to not include that one in the pro/con list!! God bless America

2024-07-01 04:35:42 +0000 UTCKevin Kline's kid made that Funny Pages movie a couple years ago.. was he on the show? It's all a blur, he was on somebody's show, anyway Geezer Butler was on WTF recently, it was hard not to think about Rock N Roll Gary the whole time. Great stuff, peace and loov

2024-06-29 23:17:18 +0000 UTCThanks Tim! That Phil Braun TMZ bit was seriously funny. No one could have known how that would have unfolded but the instincts of your crew was amazing. Long awkward moments and whispering so the TMZ phone director couldn't hear them. It was classic sitting on the bedroom floor with your friends doing prank calls. Never seen it done better in a performative way. Agh! Couldn't be a bigger fan. Love love love

2024-06-29 21:20:39 +0000 UTCJoe has been a good president. I don’t care if his voice was hoarse and he occasionally stutters. And as someone who’s witnessed dementia in family firsthand, it’s a little ridiculous and frankly offensive to accuse Joe or other old people we don’t like of that. Also, I want my primary vote to count for something - how would that work if the delegates (who could be bribed) just decide for us at the convention?
Daniel Miller
2024-06-29 21:20:27 +0000 UTCConsidering Trump is running and could easily win again, doesn't seem like he really "beat" him.

2024-06-29 18:34:33 +0000 UTCOpen convention/replacement will really be the tell if the theory Dems are actually interested in winning/actively trying to lose is true (raising money off Trump has worked great for them. That cow is likely milked now).

2024-06-29 16:59:02 +0000 UTCIf they keep Joe, the Democrats will finally have proven the right correct. Since 2016, we've been making excuses for a party that is clearly a wolf in sheep's clothing. If they keep Joe, the Dems demonstrably do not give a fuck about you.

2024-06-29 16:35:26 +0000 UTCTo be fair to Dems (sorry) Biden did already beat Trump. It’s not like they’re trying the same thing again and hoping for a different result.

2024-06-29 16:32:14 +0000 UTCI agree with the idea that Joe should step aside gracefully and endorse a new ticket. T, if OHL was asked to create a ticket that Joe would endorse - what would it be? The debate was a large egg breakfast.

2024-06-29 15:30:16 +0000 UTCWelcome back! Sorry you had to come home to a mess. We’re here with you, and you with us. I’m gonna have to take a page out of Tom Kenny’s book and admit I only know Kevin Kline through his 2D, voice acting roles—but they’re really good! Guess I better get caught up on his live action. Glad you got to gel so well with one of your industry heroes…well, maybe too well according to the MHU Dept (a sign of true professionalism is keeping the make up brush steady while being blasted by that Rock and Roll Gary filth). Absence makes the heart grow fonder, so I hope you don’t pressure yourself too much this week. Your presence is our present. Sure, you’ve got big shoes to fill, but you’ll do fine. Brain over Braun, amirite?

2024-06-29 15:19:22 +0000 UTCFrom your lips to gods ears re an open convention. But seems to me it would require passing over Kamala Harris. Not that I think she’d be a good candidate (better than Biden in terms of coherence, maybe), but passing over the first black female VP for someone else could really piss a lot of folks who usually vote democratic off. Also, Biden reminds me of what I’m going through now with my mom, his same age - trying to convince her to go to a home or let me and my wife move in, because she keeps falling in her house. When a really old person is told “you’re too old for this” they dig the fuck in out of death anxiety. It’s insane to think that could be happening on the national stage but it looks that way to me. It’s like if my mom were surrounded by paid sycophants all telling her she’s right and she isn’t too old to stay doing what she’s doing. So it’s a big if for me if Biden steps aside, and if he does, I don’t see how you can possibly do it and keep the base intact unless he resigns and Harris becomes president by default. Which would itself be a huge gamble, but I think it could be the only way to win at this point. Scary times!!

2024-06-29 15:16:47 +0000 UTCI sent a text to my younger brother during the debate. I said that I feel like I'm watching our 85 year old dad insisting he's still ok to drive. It was so frustrating. I told him he could drive me but I would no longer have my son in the car if he drove. He let me drive us at that point. I wonder if we have some similar leverage here??? I haven't come up with anything but there's got to be something! Yes, my dad had days he was very sharp but that's just it, as President you have to have at least 90% of days sharp. My bigger point is that I think there's a developmental thing with that age bracket that is out of touch with reality. It's beyond just wanting to remain independent. This is just my sense of it, not claiming studies show... Anyway, glad you're back safe with the family. Don't be nervous about #300, it will be glorious! 299.5 was a great idea and great episode : )

2024-06-29 15:14:52 +0000 UTCBy the power invested in Zack Snyder, I now pronounce you OHL host. As for the debate, that was shameless. Biden should've stepped down from the campaign long ago.
