2024-06-12 22:18:59 +0000 UTCThere's a book out right now, it's called There Was Nothin You Could Do. It's by this fella named Steve Hyden and uh... anyway it's really a great book and uh... I'll be discussin it with Sting, Tracey Chapman, Peter Gabriel, and Youssou Ndour next week on Office Hours... with the great Vic Berger an Doug an Tim... anyway I applied for the position as host of that show when I was about 17... and I went, and I failed. It's nuthin to applaud about. Cause in 1985, blind faith in Office Hours, or in anything, was gonna git you killed. I was upset about losin the spot, ya know, so I went to the one last lonely phone booth in town, and talked to my girl all night long. When I got back to my house my dad was waitin for me in the kitchen. I told him I'd auditioned and failed. And he said "That's good." (crowd roars) (The River starts playing)
