Tim's Blog: 8 More Years!
Added 2024-05-11 14:35:25 +0000 UTCCan you believe it? 8 years of Office Hours. It all began when our friend Mark Zuckerberg launched a new feature on Facebook: Facebook Live. I'm sure there were other ways to broadcast over the internet back in 2016 but Facebook Live was so easy and instantly connected me to my built in audience right there on Facebook. I couldn't resist. I thought it was a clever way to promote my album In Glendale, which I'd just released and needed some explaining. I was hooked right away. I adapted my twitter persona, vacillating between honest sincerity and overblown indignity and anger, or sometimes finding voices and characters to create sketches live on the air. With a cobbled together collection of audio gear, I labored for the first few intermittent months (years?) trying to build my own live morning talk show. A podcast company took interest, and sent over a nice young man named Aristotle to help me engineer things, but we never did get a handle on the tech side of it. Eventually Vic, who had just moved to LA and Doug started dropping by and adding thoughts and laughs and drops... First individually, and then together they quickly bonded over their sound effects and shared sense of humor... and the trinity was born.
We patched together a semi regular run of shows those first four years - we started bringing in friends as guests, Fred, Natalie Merring, John C would call in to talk about his Acai bowls... I'd shut things down a few times, while I went off to work on bigger projects, only to get the bug for live radio again and start things back up.
We had also developed a loose community of listeners out there - the initial trolls and MAGA creeps got bored of pranking us and some regulars started to stick around (Phil!) I had already built a few cult comedy communities with Eric and On Cinema and now it seemed like I was building another one (albeit, with some serious overlap)
By the end of 2019 I was feeling energized and excited about Office Hours and felt like it had potential to grow, but I just couldn't deal with the technical side of it anymore, and I wanted help. I had lunch with my dear old pal Matt Carlin, who I knew had a love for good radio and liked the show and asked him to come on board to help sort things out. He was eager and excited for the challenge. He didn't have much experience but I knew him to be a smart cookie who I could trust.
The plan was: We'd relaunch Office Hours as soon as I got back from Tim and Eric's Mandatory Tour in early 2020 with a Patreon to help fund our expansion into a new studio in my garage and start paying me Doug and Vic for our time and hard work. Little did we know that when I got back from the road, Office Hours would be nearly the ONLY thing we'd be able to do for the foreseeable future!
The relaunch which was presented as an 8 hour marathon from Doug's house is an incredible time capsule of a significant moment in world history! It's the dawn of the pandemic and we're all discovering what it means in real time, live on the internet. Phil had flown in from Atlanta, and described a "harrowing journey, where people were wearing masks and gloves...")
And so Office Hours would become our pod - Doug, Vic, Matt and I would have our weekly show to focus on and gather in my garage each week. What a blessing it was to have THAT on the schedule when everything else around us was disintegrating. Wes and then Luke came on to build us a working studio where we'd finally say goodby to the beeps and bops... Matt started booking guests and the show started to find it's groove as a reliably fun show for people.
The community grew and we got to know our audience more and more. My friendship with Matt Vic and Doug grew exponentially and I suddenly was meeting all these wonderful guests Matt had booked. The show would also end up strengthening my friendships with other people I'd get on the show, like Fred, or John Early, Claudia... We'd bond in real time over the show and that would lead to off the air hangs... The drops became engrained in our language, like emoji's and our hot takes, personal preferences, likes and dislikes became part of our identities - for better of worse you all got to know us pretty well!
The world started to open up and I got busy with real Hollywood and other parts of my creative life yet we still managed to keep things together and put on a regular show pretty much every week. In 8 years outside of Office Hours I managed to put together and release 4 LPs of music. Eric and I made Beef House and toured Australia and The US and squeezed in numerous commercial gigs. John C, Fred and I wrote and produced Moonbase 8, On Cinema cranked out 2 seasons of Decker for TV, 8 or so Seasons of On Cinema, 8 Oscar Specials, a televised Trial, a MOVIE and launched the Hei Network when Adult Swim pulled the plug. Acting became a bigger part of my life: Scoring a role in Us, a trip to Italy for the ensemble comedy Spin Me Round , 2 seasons on Killing It, guest spots on I Think You Should Leave, Our Flag Means Death, and recently What We Do In The Shadows. More acting jobs dotted my calendar and if you want a full accounting of my work since 2016, please visit my imdb page! I put The Very Good Band together and toured the states twice with a tour of Europe in between. Even the leather jacket guy got to make a comedy special.
Yep, through all of that running around and traveling and getting up early to get into hair and makeup Matt kept the ship running, Vic and Doug kept innovating and writing bits and games... we made 2 very special Drop Concert movies - we used Office Hours for experimental satires of the things we love to hate, like the Joe Rogan spoof with Rajat and Jeremy and the parody of Club Random with Fred and Jay... Matt's great taste in music led us to invite some of the most cutting edge working artists in to play music and my exposure to a whole new world of great music blew my brain wide open. And getting to do this blog every Saturday has also enriched my life, honing my writing skills, which I think is leading to something big and exciting (hint, hint)
2024's been a hectic year of acting work, and Doug's Eric Andre tours, but we'll keep rolling - I'm heading to New York for another movie on Monday and we may have a few clunky weeks, but rest assured, we'll keep chugging along. I can't say how much we all appreciate all of you who've stuck with us and made this community something special. I hope you all find this world of ours a safe port in a dark and stormy sea of shit.
Let's do 8 more years and reassess, OK?
Love you all! T
PS - feel free to share what Office Hours means to you, or just your favorite moments?

Hi Tim, Happily discovered you, Doug, Vic & Matt in recent months (that's right, *I* discovered you guys much in the way America was "discovered") and since then it's been a true delight benjamin-buttoning thru the above creative timeline, especially a recent OCATC immersion via a brief dip into YouTube before diving the deep waters of the HEI Network. (A real first foray into the adjacent Timverse might be Gregg and John C's hypnotic Entertainment [2015] which in recent years I'd found myself putting on regularly in that late-hours twilight zone between consciousness and sleep, so maybe it worked to prime me.) Anyway thanks for all of it and best wishes to you all, will stay tuned... Fred (John)

2024-07-27 13:57:22 +0000 UTCI still remember where I was when the “I like having fun” bit happened. Still one of the funniest things I’ve ever had the privilege to experience. Thanks for 8 great years!

2024-07-01 15:49:30 +0000 UTCHi to the trinity et al, I’m too chicken to join the zoom but just thought I’d use this opportunity to say you guys have helped me through some rough times. I’m not just ass-kissing here. 4 years ago when my eldest was born and I was in the dark depths of post partum depression office hours was the first thing I laughed at in months. During the pandemic my baby was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and it was an awful and isolating time, the podcast was the highlight of my week as I’m sure it was for many. You’re all so effortlessly funny, listening to you make each other laugh is such a joy. Special mention goes to Vic’s perfectly timed “Village Idiot” drop, had me laughing for days! I just had my second baby and the nights are long and restless but with you guys in my ear it feels like I’m not alone (in a completely non parasocial non creepy way of course). I’m done having babies now but I hope you’re still going when they’re flying the nest and I’m a menopausal mess instead. All the best!

2024-05-18 08:26:42 +0000 UTCI never thought I’d say something like this but I live for Office Hours. Look forward to it every week. Also, could you get Matt Berry on? Thanks

2024-05-17 19:27:19 +0000 UTCI started listening at maybe ep 3 or 4 back in the day. I was completely off social media at the time, but I heard an ad for it on Brody Steven's podcast, and being a T&E and On Cinema fan, I had to check it out. Been your biggest silent fan ever since. (Silent outside of the sporadic and drunken GbV comments here and there on this site.) The show, in all its incarnations has remained the thing I look forward to the most every single week. Helps me feel a little less weird and isolated in the mind drought of upstate South Carolina I've slipped and found myself stuck in for the foreseeable future. Thank you, Tim, Doug, Vic, Matt, and all who make it possible.

2024-05-15 01:57:21 +0000 UTCHey, Office Hours Gang! Office hours is my weekly medicine. It helps me decompress while simultaneously connecting me with the world of Art and Comedy, as well as introducing me to the various types of mind blowing and necessary freaks and geeks and shit stirrers of the world. Office Hours helped me discover cool music - I never heard of Ben Levin, Weyes Blood, and Mdou Moctar before Office Hours. I've also been introduced to different life experiences and challenges that happen out there to people who aren't me, and these expressions give me the opportunity to learn and understand the reality of others. I feel like the OHL community needs a shout-out, too. What an accepting, supportive, compassionate group of people. I am truly happy and proud to be a part of it. Despite thinking hard about it, I can't say I've experienced anything negative through Office Hours since joining the community in 2018. So far, only good things! Thank you so much gang, I'm grateful for all you've done so far; I'm a better person for it. I am looking forward to more Fun and Funny times in the future!

2024-05-14 05:45:34 +0000 UTCWow, 8 years! As a big Tim and Eric / Tom Goes / On Cin / Tim stand-up fan, I actually steered clear of the pod for the first few years. I knew there was a risk that the 'real' man behind these shows could be an edgy right-wing ___-phobic provocateur & that it would sour my associations. To be fair, the few clips I'd seen of an all-male show full of MAGA trolls didn't help that initial impression. As a non-binary XX person who cares about social justice etc, I was worried I'd get TRIGGERED and have to CANCEL Tim forever. Then in 2020 I allowed myself to listen a little, and was happily surprised to find the 'real' Tim was just as funny as any of his concoctions, as well as a decent, respectful and humanistic person, and his idea of where "the line" is matched up pretty well with mine. Seeing that Tim was joined by DJ DOUGGPOUND - my favourite part of the early 2010s Awesome Show tour to Australia - and the video artist known as Vic Berger whose superdeluxe work I'd been loving on youtube - I honestly thought the universe had created a show just for me with my 3 favourites. As I worked from home in corporate hell over the extended and extreme lockdowns we had in Melbourne, I really relied on waking up on a Friday morning to see the new episode had dropped. The days they were doing an evening broadcast, which meant I could tune in during the day, were even better. I never had anything to say in the comments or to call in for, but I had a great time. Having my Benson remix make it onto the official playlist was a dream come true. First and only real time I've had that delicious parasocial interaction with a content creator. I asked if I could play it at Federation Square on NYE 2022/23 as part of a DJ set and the team emailed right back to say yep - I was on top of the world. :) Outside of that, I have loved the guests, both ones I knew before and never knew. I think OHL is doing stuff that almost no other podcast is. Actually, I'm gonna say it's the highest production value podcast out there. I get nervous that one of you will get sick of doing it or get too famous and I'll have to say goodbye. So that's why I DEMAND another 8 years and beyond Xoxo

2024-05-14 02:10:29 +0000 UTCFound OHL, within a week I was a Patron, took about 3 months to watch/listen to all the OHL backlog, and now I’m through all of On Cinema (HEI network member as well) and seeing the real good band over the summer! I’m glad this exists and I’m glad I found it when I did as it lead to a whole heap of other great things I fully enjoy!! Thank you!

2024-05-13 18:10:15 +0000 UTCThanks Tim. So glad to have OHL in my life the last few years. It's been fantastic stoner fodder for this stoner father. I can't remember how I got turned on to OHL but now it's a regular part of my weekly routine and it's enriched my life, as it's been the place where I've found several fave new comedians and musicians. Long live OHL!

2024-05-13 11:14:31 +0000 UTCIf I remember correctly, the calls used to come in on Skype and there used to just be a camera focused on a piece of paper that said Office Hours. I think it was broadcast on Twitter too? This must've been in 2016 or so. I called in once and we spoke about Tim's creative process and a little bit about Randy Newman.

2024-05-13 01:54:41 +0000 UTCI’ve been watching so long that when someone asks me something stupid or silly I think “what would Tim say to this nonsense?” Love the Trin and Capn C. And creating one of the intros is an all time highlight for me. Looking forward to more years of OHL and hopefully more Timfests!

2024-05-13 00:29:44 +0000 UTCI’m a fan of Limmy and was familiar with Tim and Eric. My friend sent me a link to the episode where Limmy was on and I was instantly drawn in by the chaos at the start of that episode with all the drops and music… I have listened non stop ever since and gone on to enjoy On Cinema, The Poundcast, and whatever else you all do. The drops are just their own unique brand of comedy, and combined with Tim’s angry and confrontational persona in those earlier episodes, it was just perfect and hilarious. The technical difficulties were most definitely a FEATURE rather than a hindrance. I do miss them at times! It has been great to see the show grow and evolve over the last few years and I look forward to how it looks in another 8 years. Been going through a very difficult time recently so I’ve been listening again from the start, and it has been a great help to me. So thank you to the trinity for providing many laughs!

2024-05-12 21:02:49 +0000 UTCOne of my all time favorite moments is when a lady (are you a Patron?!) called in to talk about her band, Rue Bix Queue. The chaos that ensued while Vic and Doug tried to find the bandcamp page made for some of the most hilarious back and forth (with severe overlap and lag) the show has ever seen. I think about that clip all the time. Thanks for 8 years.

2024-05-12 14:58:00 +0000 UTCTLDR: it's been a barrell of monkeys! We're ready for another 8, Casey! I've been listening since the FB days. This post is a bit of a shitshow, but... Favorite moments are probably the birth of "I Like Having Fun" (your acapella challenge snowball effect), CASEY, classically trained actor John C minimized to acai stories (and even getting hung up on a few times), Mary and her harp, Vic's empathy/goodness, Matt's musical selections/stoic professionalism/cackle/anchoring presence, watching/hearing y'all laugh at dumb drops I sent, Phil's eggnog bit, John C's Santa, NEIL'S EPISODE, T-Day Crab Salts Spoofloop, Bobcat, the angry years, 'UHKAY' Moranis drop origin mystery, J EARLY, Dougg's relentless creativity, and the rare powerhouse combo of business/talent/self-awareness that is 'Tim Heidecker' (and seeing you test the musical waters, then go full hog from casual solo parodies to straight up tear jerkers like Buddy or Nothing!) Hardcore fans know you're a sweetheart T, but the bits must be protected, so it's fun to watch new listeners try and find reality when you're deep in the muck, refusing to believe you're that quick/prepared/dedicated to a gag. (the new fans are all dunces, imo - jk) You know exactly where the audience is at all times and QA the hell out of any/all content (often live on air if necessary). The viewer call-in aspect is funny to me because the show is streaming video and growing in scope, so these massive guests moments are juxtaposed by "can you guys hear me?" dud moments. So. Funny. It's risky cold cutting to callers, and Matt is BTS filtering out the duds pretty efficiently. Somehow Phil gets through a lot though. The whole platform added a lot of depth to the "AbsoVerse" in regards to just having fun with fans online without being in character or dealing with entry-level T&E references. Really just a barrell of monkeys, start to finish. Frankly, I'll listen until the grave. p.s. sunsetting 'city of the day' isn't a loss, it's an opportunity for a better segment. i cannot fucking wait for your book.

2024-05-12 13:03:03 +0000 UTCThe mystery of Office Hours drew me in. The hand written announcements on facebook were something I needed to know more about. I fell in LOVE with office hours after being laid off at the start of the pandemic and needed to laugh and have fun as a way to not fall in to the abyss. Being "forced" by Producer Matt to the be City of the Day (TM) gave me the confidence to host a large work related event that landed a new day job. At first I did not like the drops, now I wait for them like hits at a concert. WOHL 4 lyfe. Peace and love.

2024-05-12 09:40:55 +0000 UTCOffice Hours has just gotten better and better. Started rough, but has morphed into one of my favourite things you've done. It is a beacon of creativity and fun in a world of endless "comedy" podcasts that are the same boring trash every week. Keep up the great work and can't wait to see what the future has. Praise to The Holy Trinity

2024-05-12 08:45:45 +0000 UTCThanks to you and the OHL crew for 8 years of laughs and fun. I’d been a casual listener for years, last year was in a dark place and catching up on Office Hours really got me through it. New eps are a highlight of my week now (and am in a much better place). P&L!

2024-05-12 02:16:09 +0000 UTCHas it really been 8 years? Well shit, I remember those early FB days from the abso offices. Simple times and a lot of bings and bongs. Also, really hostile, often just outright abusive callers. I could never have imagined the show maturing into the thing it is now, a full on production with staff. What has the show done for me? It's given me a way to share things with you guys, to give something back for all the laughs you've given me, its also put me in touch with SO MANY wonderful people around the world, some of them I've met in person on a number of occasions, a lot of them I chat with several times a week, and one couple in particular have been incredibly close life-long friends, they're like family to us - finally, OHL has pointed me toward so much great stuff (music, film, tv, historical events, incidents or figures etc) that I may never have discovered by this point (a lot of it being American and probably just not yet on my radar) and I expect most of that has been a huge influence on my day to day life in terms of what I'm watching, listening to, consuming, reading etc. Office hours live started out as a silly 'phone in and ask Tim a question about Awesome Show or Bedtime Stories' show... and now it's a massive part of thousands of people's week. The only thing I could liken it to would be a church. It's a community where we come together for 2 hours every week, we laugh, we learn, we share, we have fun. I am so grateful for every one of those shows and I'm really glad you guys keep doing it, because you clearly enjoy it as much as we do - because it makes fun of a pretty nasty world. It finds the humour in dark times. And it lifts us. It gets us over the line, for another week. Long may it continue.

2024-05-11 22:20:13 +0000 UTCI liked Dougg’s hiccuping freak, the Doug dropps on EternalTV that sprung out, I liked Fred’s Birthday message to Tim a lot, I like that stupid duck guy whenever he comes on, Major Entertainer’s performance was amazing, and the best moment of all was By far Brick by Brick but that’s like capturing lightning in a bottle across all of time and space. Amazing shit guys

2024-05-11 22:13:43 +0000 UTCDefinitely miss the vacillation between sincerity and anger that used to be the norm online, now it’s just all detached cynicism. 2024-05-11 19:42:20 +0000 UTCHey Tim, after listening to Office Hours for about a year, a few months ago I started listening from the beginning. Had no idea that it all slowly evolved from you just jumping on Facebook live with no planning or nothin'. It's been fun watching all the pieces arrive and assemble themselves into place. I recently made it to the episode where the "I like having fun" bit of the theme music came about and that was very satisfying!! Thanks for the fun and enjoyable show!

2024-05-11 19:17:03 +0000 UTCI've been with OHL since the very beginning, and I am eternally grateful for so many things about the experience. So many things about what this whole thing has done for me continues to inspire me. Maybe most rewarding of all is really plugging into the community and a sense that the community and the OHL crew really are on the same page. Being one of the OHL Discord admins greatly contributes to this, as I'm sure it does for other OHL community gathering places-- the subreddit, the youtube chat, the facebook group, etc. I truly love how much you embrace the creativity and energy of the community, really go with the flow and give things honest tries, and in turn, we get to connect with and discover so many amazing people inside of this community. We feed off of your creativity, so all of that feels mutual to me. I'm going to reel off a sample of some names, and you'll probably see where I'm going with this, but this is truly, I think, a huge component of the legacy and inspiration of OHL: Daniel Cupps, Ben Levin, Sarah Reeds, Ellie Hajdu, Brian Bonelli, Ashley Brown, Joseph Teegardin, Dan Mulcahy, Phil Braun, Tom DesLongchamp (Duck), Edy Modica -- and so many more. There are so many people who I've discovered, very organically, because of what OHL has built and has allowed us to play and interact within. Their fingerprints (and, as I said, from many other people) are recognizable on this show. It's very special, and I hope that we can keep that energy up in the years to come.

2024-05-11 18:30:10 +0000 UTCThis Timline gives me so much joy! I know you recently expressed how you don’t tend to look back, so I really appreciate your look then and now (and what is to come…hello, Actor Diary Memoir?) I want to answer your questions without spoiling too much of your gift from some of us for June (hint hint)…so maybe to add to that, as an appetizer: My favorite moments are when you all are yourselves. Funny. Not funny. Annoyed. Sad. Exuberant. Human. It’s amazing to see how the show is a safe enough space for you all to be more you. You’re not clones of each other (or AI, sorry, Vic), so it’s great to see your different senses of humor and personalities coexist. Yes, I know a core ethos of the show is to make ‘em laugh…but you all sing in the rain, too. And I’m so glad to be here to hear it. Here’s to another 8 years! 💕

2024-05-11 18:19:44 +0000 UTCRogen & Maher; how can SNL continue to miss out on this kind of comedy gold? The funniest SNL skit in the passed years was a great goof on podcasts and masculinity but it didn't even make it to air. The Sleepwalkers' Mob actually cancels all the funniest stuff. Thank goodness for Tim OHL to help carry the torch of the legacy of Python-SCTV-KITH-etc because no one else is doing it

2024-05-11 18:05:45 +0000 UTCI missed OHL’s COVID era. I kept seeing Vic on my Twitter feed over the years; not sure if I followed him or he was getting retweeted by someone I know. I didn’t really connect the dots to him and OHL at first. Anyway, somehow a clip from Tim’s birthday show in 2022 with Gregg and Mark came across my feed and I checked out that episode. The moment that did it for me was when Tim was piling on Mark about looking like Wallace Shaun, and Mark says, “I’d rather not go on and about this,” causing Tim to burst out laughing. Something about that moment hooked me in for good. I’ve watched that whole segment dozens of times since. Not sure if I become a Patron right away, but I definitely subscribed in time for Sasami’s appearance shortly after that. And that’s led me to seeing The Two Tims Tour twice! Both very memorable experiences. And I even got called on once as a Zoomer and Tim made fun of me, which I suppose is a rite of passage. All that said, here’s to eight more years 🥂

2024-05-11 18:02:20 +0000 UTCI love this show! I love this show! Never fallen for a “podcast” the way I’ve fallen for office hours. Every week is a little slice of heaven. I think it’s kinda become the mecha for a certain brand of taste and humor. The music, the guests, it’s like a show made specifically for my senses & interests. I’m so thankful to be gifted it every week! Excited for y’all to keep growing and making things better but more than anything I’m just happy to get more and more of a show I love! I know it’s a lot of work and I want it to be known how much enjoyment the work brings! 8 more years! (Give us the bob dylan podcast)

2024-05-11 18:00:20 +0000 UTCI don’t have anything deep to add, but this show is very much apart of my life now. I thank everyone involved for making me laugh, keeping me informed, challenging me, and giving me something to look forward to every Thursday.

2024-05-11 17:51:43 +0000 UTCIt's been wonderful to see the show grow. I like watching my favorite things evolve, and as much fun as the early chaos and brick (by brick) walls of the original incarnation of OHL were, I think the last few years have been a real blast as the show has stabilized and found it's identity. You all make me laugh, and that's what I'm here for. Thank you, Tim.

2024-05-11 17:42:47 +0000 UTCI owe a big thanks to Aristotle actually - he liked me, and would always look out for my calls and put me through (most of the time). In Mar 2020 when I showed up to Doug’s, the first person I met outside his house was Matt. In the back of my mind I thought “uh oh..new guy” - maybe he wouldn’t give me the same favor Aristotle did. Thankfully Matt was not only super nice (despite what you hear on air) he’s big a big champion and really elevated the show. Big thanks to Capt C too!

2024-05-11 17:42:37 +0000 UTCI miss the bings and bongs! Been here since the start. This is the only good podcast! But it IS best enjoyed as a weekly tv show! The history of morning show Stern and late night Letterman/Carson filtered through Tim and the Trinity. It doesn’t get any better and I can’t live without it. I’m truly bummed that I’ve already watched/listened to every episode because I have nothing else to listen to in between each Thursday.

2024-05-11 17:38:04 +0000 UTCThat might be where the Phil you know was born. Yes, I called many many times but rarely…maybe never…did I have a “bit”. I can’t remember what I initially decided to call about but Tim checked out pretty quick and I could tell I was dying. Tim was like “what else you got” - so I was thinking “uhh…I got the Game Of Thrones finale script”. That probably gave me the confidence to take more chances, although I had already built some confidence from Tim prior to that.

2024-05-11 17:27:57 +0000 UTCOHL is the best show on the damn airwaves. It's the best blend of comedy and sincerity, and the diversity of the guests is super entertaining. Lots of big names, and then people I'd never heard of who are now some of my favorites. The production value of the show keeps growing, but the old spontaneity is always there. My favorite moment still is the "giggle guy" from a really old ep, where Tim would just hysterically giggle at the callers no matter what they said, still makes me cry laughing. Congrats on 8 years ya'll and thanks!

2024-05-11 17:12:39 +0000 UTCT you’re an inspiration and I love having OH to turn to (most) weeks. Being a Tim / OH / OCATC fan is a very special and inexplicable type of fandom and I wouldn’t have it any other way! My personal favorite moment is “Tim doing a race car driver who has to take a shit.” I still remember listening to it in my car (live) and crying laughing.
Bill Collins
2024-05-11 17:06:06 +0000 UTCI initially gravitated to it because it felt like an updated and unique version of Stern. Tim & Howard are both charismatic, funny and arrogant. Vic & Doug played the Fred & Jackie roles. It's its own thing certainly and not derivative but I felt a connection there. Still do, but less so.

2024-05-11 16:18:57 +0000 UTCI'm a recent OHL listener. Found out about it from a Twitter post about your Rogan spoof. The funny part is that this happened around the time HBO Max put up Tom Goes to the Mayor; a show that hit me as a weird have to watch train wreck in my early 20's. It didn't take long for OHL to become an event that I looked forward to and made the start of my workday great. It introduced me to On Cinema and that amazing trial. It got me into the great AI debate with Vic on Twitter. Looking forward to OHL's future.

2024-05-11 16:16:39 +0000 UTCIt feels like an honor to be able to see into all the gangs life, y’all are truly inspirational and make life so much better. My wife and I had the best time traveling to NY to see the beginning of the Two Tim’s Tour, bumping into Tim by the water doing an instagram check in. Being given the opportunity to talk to hero’s, musicians, and comedy legends is priceless. Phil is hilarious, The People’s Joker was amazing, great to be introduced to new people and their creative genius’. Every one of Doug’s games is a blast, Vic’s energy is of the people, the parents of the OHL gang is hilarious, everyone of John Early’s appearances, to much to fit in! On Cinema is the greatest and I’ve never cried harder from laughter. Love everyone here!

2024-05-11 15:58:45 +0000 UTCAs a relative newcomer to all of this, I appreciate how welcoming and cool the community has been to us newbies. So often, you can feel like you're not in on the joke because you weren't there from Day 1. This community honours the best about community building: making an inclusive environment where we can all play, regardless of when we finally figured out Office Hours was amazing.

2024-05-11 15:55:34 +0000 UTCI haven't called in in many years, but was an OG listener/caller. I love the OH community and there's so many random goofs and spoofs over the year. I always think of the parody of the Q Anon oath, for Office Hours. Uncle Phil saying he likes to laugh and have fun is burned into my brain. There's a YouTube video out there about the "feud" between you and Sam Hyde, and there's a clip of me calling in to explain some drama on the Tim and Eric subreddit. I forgot about that until one day I was watching said YouTube video and heard myself talking to you! Anyway, love Office Hours and the community. Thanks for being such an open book and supportive leader!

2024-05-11 15:36:18 +0000 UTCmy boyfriend has been watching OHL for years, so it's always been in my periphery, but then I actually sat down and watched Doug's birthday episode recently when all the parents were there, and I was like holy shit I love this. There's something so wholesome and sincere about you guys that's really comforting. All I want to do is watch old episodes. The moment when Phil takes over your Twitter with that terrible picture of you--priceless. Thank you for making the show! 2024-05-11 15:18:27 +0000 UTCI think I started watching in 2019 but at the time I went back through and listened to everything I could post-FBLive. I would have been down for anything but it really amazes me that this show went from Tim in an office room by himself with nonstop tech difficulties making up most of the show to a full on completely produced talk show (and somehow City of the day is still holding on) that spawns great bits, interviews, and musical performances. My life has been absolute shit for the last decade so having this podcast to look forward to every week has brought me a lot of comfort and something to look forward to like the many years I found comfort in rewatching Awesome Show. I was already a fan of Doug and Vic but this show made me appreciate them so much more. I am so into drops. I was a little worried when Matt joined the show be he is great too! The Rogan & Maher parodies are perfect. Some favorite folks who stopped by: Fred Armisen Vera Drew Gregg (Gamenight!) Bobcat Bob Baker Marionettes Dionne Warwick Sarah Squirm Abby Martin Weyes Blood Alex Winter Hamilton Morris Dr Demento Mark Pork Bob Odenkirk Adam Curtis & a ton of others This is the only patreon I have ever paid for and you can put me down for another 8 years. Thanks for consistently making some of the only good stuff there is.

2024-05-11 15:05:30 +0000 UTCStarted listening to OHL during Covid. It was a good laugh to look forward to each week. I've never really written jokes, but for some reason the challenge of throwing a pun at you guys every once in a while kind of opened up my mind to the idea of comedy and being on air. During the first Tim Tour, my friend Kevin and I approached our little community radio station about interviewing Tim when he came to Madison. It was a lot of fun, and he was very gracious to do it. Thanks Tim. From there, we now have a music/interview show every Wednesday night at 9pm called the Seagull on WVMO in Monona, Wisconsin. Thanks for all the laughs, recommendations, level-headed politics, puns and medical advice. Here's to another 8!

2024-05-11 15:05:01 +0000 UTCBeen listening since 2018 or 2019. The original run got me through lunch breaks at a job I hated, and it’s been so cool to see how it’s grown and changed. Couple things I love the most: you guys are legit tastemakers. In a world flattened by algorithms and catering to the lowest common denominator, Office Hours is a salve, highlighting and recommending cool shit every single week. I also love how (within reason) everyone is generally available to the community. Not like there’s a wall between the hosts and the audience. Feels like we’re all making it together in a way. Thanks, OHL!

2024-05-11 14:55:27 +0000 UTCMy wife and I discovered OHL when the Halloween 2020 episode came up as a recommendation after watching the stand-up special. It was one of those “why didn’t I know about this sooner?” moments. We were instantly hooked and we now watch every episode as a tradition. Game Night has also become a fun way for us to have a dinner at home / date night thing too, sort of like we’re hanging out with the community in real time, which has been truly special! There are times where life can be a downer, and all of you at OHL have always been able to help us smile and laugh during those moments. Thank you for sharing this experience with us; it’s been a wonderful journey. ❤️

2024-05-11 14:54:33 +0000 UTCI stumbled onto the Facebook Live version of Office Hours pretty early, somewhere around early 2017. At the time, it was fascinating to get this glimpse of the "real" Tim. In late 2017, I suffered a seismic personal loss, I was completely out of it for a few years, and then just as I was starting to find my feet, COVID happened. All throughout, Office Hours has been a consistent source of joy in very, very dark times. Sincerely, thank you to Tim, the trinity at large, producer Matt, Wes, Luke, Phil and all involved for being a beacon.

2024-05-11 14:53:24 +0000 UTCI’m so appreciative that I found the show before the pandemic and besides being the rare podcast that elicits hard laughs, it was so comforting to have something constant in that confusing time we all lived through. It’s been great watching the show grow and run smooth and the patreon exclusive perks are some of my favorite things to return to. The Compound season 2 would be great but Doug is always busy. Thanks for all the work collectively and individually from the trinity. It means a lot to me.
