Caught up on this episode last night, having missed it first time around. The Dragnet clips in the middle break where the stoned parents discover their baby has drowned in the bathtub sent a shiver down my spine. Having kids makes you a lot more empathetic. It puts the fear of god into you. And thank you for bringing us some rap for a change, it’s great to see a bit more variety where musical guests are concerned. I enjoy early 90s hip hop but i feel culturally so far from the mainstream stuff you might hear out and about, i find it very inaccessible. I need a way of discovering worthwhile modern rap. I love the cut and paste nature of hip hop / the creativity of sampling and mashing things together to form a sort of hypnotic groove to rhyme over. The basic beat, loud low end and high top end. All that space in between for the voice. Every word loud and clear.

John Galantini

One of my favorite OHL musical performances. That was fantastic.

Jameson Mangan

I love when there is different types of music on Office Hours.

Joe

Fat Tony !!!!!!!

Gab Bonghi

What started as a solemn tribute turned into gags in a fine suit How we escaped harm under Gary’s charm confounds me (but weren’t the guys ~so~ cute?!) 🔥

lilula9

My rec of the week is a podcast called Peter & The Acid King. It’s about the death of Peter Ivers.

Sam fuller is one of the absolute greats 💋

jeff s

Gregg Turkington and Mark Porch both mentioned "White Dog" when they appeared on OHL together. A solid recommendation from Fat Tony. Great show this week, lads!

Will Ochs

Vic’s break videos are so good. Every one so far has been a hilarious fever dream.

Jim Schroeder

I've only bloody found it! So funny. I thought Howard was just incapable of humour these days but this is good. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QD-nCQn1Ads&pp=ygUoSG93YXJkIHN0ZXJuIGdvb2ZzIG9uIG96ZW1waWMgY29tbWVyaWNhbA%3D%3D

Gary is such a good vibe, his personality is infectious awesome chemistry & Fat Tony is so so good thanks for having him on! ps HELL YES DOUG- second the rec for the PBS app over netflix: super cheap + they have an amazing history of American music series where they feature the history of Hip Hop!

Miguel

The king is back!!!

Brian

I thought that was Howard too

Brian

FAT TONY killed it! Did not expect to see him here.

westend_td

Gulman comes off as kind of a bitter old man here. He's right to hate celebrity culture but he just seems bitter at individual young celebrities which is odd for how empathetic he normally is

Henry Michael

Great laugh on Gary

Grant Peterson

Oh hoho I hate this Stuck in my head for days Doug please is this Howard?

Nick G

sounds pretty dated to me

Tim Heidecker

My Recc: The Cowboys from Bloomington, INDIANA. Amazing music, I think Tim Heads will dig it. https://thecowboysnow.bandcamp.com/album/sultan-of-squat My Recc Request: Dougg's skincare and anti-aging tips!

Jacob Kruse

I reported you to the NYC police authority division for public urination.

the Dude

Is proof of COVID vaccine required at the Portland show or is the ticket purchasing site just dated?

Jeff Schmid

he was adorable 💕

lilula9

not many rappers have been on the show, but they're always great guests when they are

Justin Maddey

Loved the intermission ride! I bet Robbie will be fine.

Chalameybe

great ep folks, thanks

Michael Wright

There is something magical when a guest doesn’t really know anything about the OHL world but gets a kick out of it. It’s like little kids and Xmas; seeing them experience it all for the first time takes us back to our first time. This show was and 11/10.

Kris of Nazareth

Tony’s rec White Dog was the last film by Sam Fuller, director of classic noir like Pickup on South Street and Shock Corridor. Scorsese wrote the introduction to Fuller’s autobiography.

Jay Aubrey-Herzog

Great episode guys!

Calum Alexander

S P O R K LIFT!

Paco Slingscock

patreon members should get early access to tickets!!

Matt James

I came here to see if someone had the name of the song - thank you so much!

the Dude

Watched Lost in America tonight. Thanks for the rec! I’d like to add The Holdovers to the rec center. Someone on letterbox said it’s like getting beaten to death by a Cat Stevens album and I couldn’t agree more.

Ben Silver

I post reaction recaps on the OHL Discord about my favorite parts and I think it’s gonna be a looong post, such a good ep!

lilula9

we are swimming in the bounty

lilula9

A perfect show today! So much fun! Thank you for all the fun and laughs, Tony & Gary were both fantastic too! Peace & love

Carol

I just looked it up. I guess it's a demo circa 1978 called 'Whatever Happened To'. So good!

Harrison

Went to show my partner the good parts of the ep when he got home from work, and had to show him the whole thing. I think we've got an all-timer!

Di Drew

A++ episode. Really hope that is not the last we see of Gary. Tony was a great hang too.

Brian

Nice job. There’s an OHL Strava group of you’re interested in joining https://strava.app.link/1YVTaDomaFb

Brian

Love Gary and love Tony. This was a killer episode. Tony even played my favorite song of his. Thanks fellas.

Christian

Boulder Theater is haunted Tim. I will call in to the hotline next week, possibly.

Sam tune

Can we get a (paid) Tim fest stream?

Dan

Amazing accomplishment and super special you called in and connected today!!🏆🧡

Dana

charming af gary gulman, fat tony in a tori amos t-shirt, and vaudeville? you guys are the best.

marshy

I called in about my 37 mile run today. For anyone that's curious, here's the route that I did: https://www.strava.com/activities/10307830805 Calling into the show to talk about this was special, because OHL is a huge part of my running life. I always look forward to my Friday runs because I know I'll have a new episode to listen to during my run. Last year I was training for a marathon and running a lot. I bought a running stroller for my two kids and every Saturday I would load them in and play an episode of "Please Please Let it Be" while we ran for hours through the streets of Brooklyn. I know in a decade I will look back on those mornings fondly.

Knight

Fantastic show today gang.

TJ K

I admire your ability to touch..."that"

lilula9

Thanks for having Gary on! This is a top-notch episode and you guys spent some quality time chatting with Gary.

Todd Grewell

what was the john lennon song during vic's break video?

Ian Horrocks

I think this has been my favorite show yet. “Stand by for…the fat shaming of Kieth Richards” really got me

Jesse Kubanet

Haha!! Right! I’d never want that responsibility!😛 I’ll stick to being a massage therapist and knowing if someone has “turtle neck”! 😂💚

Dana

Nailed it, much better than my "tortitis". This is why WE should be the doctors.

lilula9

Torticollis is a legitimate condition where head sticks out like a turtle. 🐢☺️😛

Dana

Kissinger is, in fact, turtley enough for the turtle club.

Count Crackula

Gary looked like he had a great time. And that made me have a fantastic time. Love this show!

Jason Luckey

fat tony was great

skeletonmeat

Today's break video was one of the best yet. Great job Vic!

Seth Deysher

Damn!! What a show!!!🤗🏈🐴❣️

Dana

Recommending Mister Organ, a documentary by David Farrier who also did Tickled which was also insane.

Rok Pregelj

Getting Adam Curtis vibes from Vic's video work in the middle there. Very cool, funny & weird.

Joss Humberstone

Yes!! Tony is the man! Can’t wait
