Doug's Tour Diary Day 11: Columbus
Added 2023-10-30 18:02:34 +0000 UTCOn our (connecting) flight to Columbus, the lady in the window seat had her window open the whole time and for some reason, that was irritating, so I came up with a hack.

I was pleased to see the light switches clearly labeled in my hotel room. Thank you Paris Hilton.

Columbus is a cute town and fall was in full swing. Falling leaves and brick roads. Perfect weather for a scoot. Riding one of these around a new city is a delightful activity.

Eric and I went to brunch at Katalina’s, home of the original pancake balls. I got mine with veggie sausage, it was excellent.

Some kid asked me “sir, can I take a picture with him?” like I was his handler or something. It was a 20 minute walk both ways to the restaurant. Eric is quite a recognizable dude and lots of people want to take a picture with him. He says “sure, as along as I can keep walking.” We saw a white squirrel!

The veggie tray is a common sight in backstage situations. Can we all cut the crap and make it be all carrots?

The show went great, I pitched two new bits to Eric and they both worked great, especially “bobbing for pudding.” This was the messiest show of the tour. The girls who came onstage for the Ranch Challenge basically turned it into a food fight. They tornado’d ranch all over the stage and it got ONTO my laptop keyboard! Not cool. JO and I may have to implement a plexiglass screen like a COVID era barista.

My friend (legendary skate artist Todd Bratrud) who designed my skate deck suggested fingerboard versions. They arrived at the venue today and look amazing! I’ll have them in my store in time for my Yellow Friday sale.

We’re on our way to Grand Rapids now, had to leave before dawn. It’s hard to get to sleep after a show so we’re all a bit groggy. Peace ✌️

my hometown! just for the record I'm a nervous flyer and being able to look out the window somehow helps me manage my anxiety, just FYI!

2023-11-03 02:24:09 +0000 UTCAs far as veggie dippers go I’d say carrots, celery, and peppers. Onion could be good depending on the dip.

2023-10-30 18:46:08 +0000 UTCOk, I will be the one to defend brassicas on the veggie tray - Broccoli and Cauliflower may not be the undisputed champion of the veggie tray like Carrot, but they're worthy compatriots. But we all agree that Celery can take a hike!

2023-10-30 18:15:35 +0000 UTCI mean, she had to have the light to see the book she was reading. Nothing enhances an overhead light like having the million wattage of the sun shining down on the page.
