Doug’s Tour Diary Day 9: Houston
Added 2023-10-19 23:29:49 +0000 UTCNever really had a good sense of Houston until this trip. Some nice green areas around here, it was pleasant and the weather was perfect.
I finally had some free time and luckily there was a massive skatepark within skating distance to the venue. It was fun as hell and I had the place to myself. Not to get into skating too much but the skateparks in LA suck compared to lots of other cities. This photo doesn't do it justice, the place is huge and it had lots of small stuff to skate for old fools like me.
Speaking of huge, the Bayou Music Center is massive. The crew was really cool but the green room was insanely far away, we had to walk up two flights of stairs, down a hall then down another flight of stairs.
This fridge looks like a Marshall amp. Pretty cool?
I personally had my least favorite set of the tour. I did good but the crowd was brightly lit and of course all I'm looking at are the arms-crossed blank stares of the few sourpusses out there. Plus, they were extra rowdy and yelling things while I'm trying to set up my jokes. Still did good, just a bit distracted. The rowdy crowd was perfect for Eric though, this dude took his shirt off and threw his glasses into the crowd. These Texans let loose!
The celebrity guest was Carter Wall from the latest season of "Love is Blind." I gotta be honest folks, I watch that show. Sort of a guilty pleasure but there's something interesting about it. This dude was barely even in the show though!
Oh, during sound check, I made the jingle for this week's Office Hours fake ad ;)
After the show, Eric and I went to an excellent restaurant called Xin Chao, I ordered a mushroom congee, delicious! One of the chefs is blind and she made the "rubbish apple pie" that Eric is holding. It was too good, I almost popped.
Update on the Beaver Nuggets. They are very very good but evil. I will try to smuggle a bag home.

Houston hot as hell again this week, glad you got the one nice day. I missed it due to being out of town on the same boat as the Jadakiss cruise.
