Doug’s Tour Diary - Day 4 Milwaukee

Last night was the best show of the tour so far. The venue “The Rave” was perfect for our show. The shabby, yet homey decor was a nice contrast to the brutal edifice we inhabited the night before.

Midwest crowds rule. Generally friendly, humble folks (like me :) The celebrity guest was Milwaukee legend “Milverine,” a guy who seems to be famous for walking around town with his shirt off. He had no idea what he was in for but he was a good sport. He said I looked like Paul Williams, now Eric is texting me photos like this:

Paul wrote Rainbow Connection, so I accept.

We stayed at The Ambassador, which is a beautiful art deco hotel that the Beatles once stayed at. It’s also the site of Jeffrey Dahmer’s first Milwaukee murder. Lotta neat history there!

In the van, the subject of Mr. Bungle came up. Another band that people with taste seem to agree on. We listened to a few of their “best” songs. I don’t want to lose any Patreon subscribers so I’ll just say they are very creative! Then we listened to the new Slowdive, which is excellent. I like pretty music.

Last night, I met Eric at Solly’s Grille, the Original Wisconsin Butter Burger. Thankfully they had a veggie burger, it was really good!

I watched a nice show about quilting on PBS this morning. That’s all to report, we’re stuck in traffic now. Chicago has two seasons: Winter and Traffic.

Doug, I just started Endurance by Alfred Lansing per your suggestion on the fan Zoom. It’s really good so far. Thanks for the suggestion.

Doug’s got the best taste in music out of the holy trinity..and everyone should listen to the ‘angry mr bungle fan’ best show call

Bob L.

What if you ranked the top serial killers in each town? (Chicagos #1 would be Gacy, I’d assume)

Phil Braun

That green room looks like a DMT dealer’s apartment

It warms my heart to hear you enjoyed your time in our little big city. Hope it remains on your radar for future tours.

Paul Williams hasn't aged a day since he turned 15

*Also enjoy yourself at Salt Shed, Chicago's newest premier multi-purpose venue. There is a Toto toilet backstage and you can probably skate on their fairgrounds.

Tell Eric I can go word for word with the entire Disco Volante album and I challenge him to a sing-off (if you can call what Mike P. does on that album 'singing').

Slowdive just played the Palace Theater in St. Paul on Tuesday, see ya there Saturday!
