Doug’s Tour Diary - Day 3 Chesterfield, MO
Added 2023-10-05 23:00:02 +0000 UTCBack in the minivan. Currently discussing DEVO, a band that I admire and want to like but never connected with. “Whip It” is a banger for sure. Maybe I’ll give it a proper shot during this 5+ hour drive to Milwaukee. We played at a huge venue called The Factory in Chesterfield, MO last night. I did well, word has it that the sound guys and stagehands were all cracking up during my set, so that’s a good sign.
Clownvis was the celebrity guest. I saw him for the first time without makeup and was shocked how young he looked. He did a great job, he even performed a song. Fun hang too.
For lunch, we had sandwiches. Sorry but sandwiches are a bit boring, unless it’s a banh mi. Sandwiches are fine, don’t @ me. The joint didn’t have a single vegan option so I got the vegetable soup and a salad. Nothing to write home about but I am writing home about it. Huh?
After a post show hang, which included Lieutenant Carson, our calzones arrived. Do you want a greasier and messier pizza that you have to dip in sauce? Calzones are for you. Sorry to be so negative today but there’s much else to talk about. Plus, controversy creates conversation!
I have one more opinion you may not agree with. Hotel room coffee? The shitty plastic unit you gotta fill up with sink water? I love it. I like waking up, turning on some corny cable tv and having some joe, without having to leave the room. And it’s free!
Last item of interest: After this leg of the tour, Joe will be heading to Arizona to retrieve a pair of 1800’s jeans he heard about. They’re in the rafters of an abandoned mine. I’ll keep you updated as that story unfolds.
