Doug’s Tour Diary - Day 1 Kansas City

Tonight is the first show, we are in Kansas City… Missouri I think? Yes, Missouri. Pretty good crew, we’ve got tour manager JP Hasson, who I’ve gone on many a Tim and Eric tour with. Mike Hickey, AKA Major Entertainer, who is always a great hang. The wildcard is Joe Holliday, the props master and puppeteer who controls “The Fridge Keeper.” He’s only a wildcard because we just met but so far, he has an abundance of great stories. Pretty uneventful flight, we flew Southwest. The flight attendants had some new material, which got some laughs. Most of it was centered around dissing Delta Airlines. One joke I liked was “If you’re flying with children, why?”
When we got to the hotel, we looked for a place to eat of course. Joe, Mike and I walked in a random direction. The city seemed a bit empty. We wanted to check out a bustling area so I googled “cool neighborhood in kansas city.” Computer said “Crossroads Neighborhood.” When I looked on my map, it turned out we were IN that neighborhood! I guess noon on a Monday isn’t too bustling of a time anywhere. We stumbled upon an extremely good Thai place called “Baramee Thai Bistro.” There were actually people in there, so that was a sign it might not be too bad. I had a cucumber salad and a massaman curry with tofu. (Massaman is the most underrated curry, usually the options are green, red or yellow. Why?)
Cute town though, lots of neat old buildings and nice light rail public transit. I could live here if I had to!

I work in the crossroads. Eat at Baramee occasionally! It’s good! The neighborhood is generally dead during the day. Has some great spots like green lady lounge in the evening. Can’t wait to see resident dougpound walking the streets of kc daily.
