Tim that happens to me all the time!!! Even with wearing headphones while I am working, crazy how ears work!

2023-10-04 23:42:48 +0000 UTCthis seems common for musicians over time. a dull ache in the ear and worse when you sleep on the ear. please excuse my chiming in, peace and love

2023-10-04 23:07:11 +0000 UTCI have used one for years because of ear cartilage piercings. Lifesaver for sure, though you gotta shop around to find comfortable ones, at least in my experience.
Samantha Smith
2023-10-04 21:36:04 +0000 UTCI recommend going to an Ear Nose and Throat specialist. Even if your doctor is great she just might not have the specialized experience that an ENT would

2023-10-04 20:37:40 +0000 UTCThanks T

2023-10-04 15:08:58 +0000 UTCI'm wondering if it has anything to do with your earpieces on set? Also - I've had similar issues with my ears when my glasses are too tight. How/why it affects the ears, no idea.
Adam Shea
2023-10-04 07:51:34 +0000 UTCLose the blue lenses bro. That should help :( 🤮 get well
James Conrathe
2023-10-04 05:00:54 +0000 UTCI welcome any and all bloggage and blockage. But not at the cost of your sleep--you barely got through the ep alive, and that sleep deprivation was on purpose. Hope you figure out how to adjust your ears...

2023-10-04 04:47:56 +0000 UTCI can see this epic tale as if in a feverish state; a twist ending that sends imagination running into a scream of perplexity. The mysteries of life are forever out of reach in this mortal realm of flesh and blood, the sinew and detritus of a million colliding particles into the moving bags of water and minerals lurching forward into the void of a damned universe. Also, enjoy your walk. Toodles.

2023-10-04 01:37:00 +0000 UTCDo you chew gum or bite your nails regularly? I had a lot of TMJ symptoms several years ago. I quit doing those things and the jaw and ear pain went away for good.
Chad
2023-10-03 21:48:06 +0000 UTCI thought this was going to be a big ol' shaggy dog for sure, which caused me to pay real close attention to every detail of the story. Seems like a good approach to listening to people tell stories in the future.

2023-10-03 21:32:59 +0000 UTCi had some custom ear plugs made for my ears and the audiologist ripped the shit out of my ear canal so bad that i woke up that night in a pool of blood. :) great ear plugs though.

2023-10-03 19:18:53 +0000 UTCUsually I would have a vague idea of what these things could be or who might know. I have no idea with this one. Nothing quite like a "I don't know from the doctors". That can be good in that it isnt raising any major red flags like "GET THEM TO THE HOSPITAL NOW!!!" but it doesn't solve the issue either. Keep at it the doctors can usually get to the bottom of it even if it takes a while.
Michael Verrenkamp
2023-10-03 07:08:56 +0000 UTCTim could it be a blood circulation problem? When you lie down perhaps inadequate blood supply is reaching the lobe. Or, there is that pillow guy with the direct line to god.
Calvin
2023-10-02 20:05:28 +0000 UTCTim I suggest you stop eating cauliflower IMMEDIATELY

2023-10-02 13:47:25 +0000 UTCLast year I had similar outer ear pain that no one could diagnose. Went to my PCP several times, even got an CT scan because they wanted to rule out some kind of infection flying under the radar. Nothing. Went to the ENT and the doctor felt around my throat and jaw and diagnosed me with TMJ. I didn’t have any dental indications and I thought she was bullshitting me, but eventually I got sent to a physical therapist and she confirmed that my jaw was extremely tight. With exercise and stretches, that ear pain went away, but it took months! Just sharing my experience with medical anomalies. A history of neck pain can definitely translate eventually to ear and jaw pain. Whatever it is, I hope you feel better soon, Tim!

2023-10-01 21:49:39 +0000 UTCThis happened to my dad, go to a surgeon and have both ears amputated immediately. This is the only permanent solution.
Brendan Carpenter
2023-10-01 19:26:43 +0000 UTCIt is called classic rockondritis. Caused by constant listening to classic rock.
Björn Lindgren
2023-10-01 17:13:20 +0000 UTCThat sucks, Tim. Maybe it’s Perochondritis? If you’ve had COVID, perhaps it reactivated a latent virus? I hope you find relief soon! “Perichondritis can also be caused by herpes zoster infection, perhaps from vesicles enabling a route of entry for bacteria to invade.[4]” https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK572081/

2023-10-01 04:34:43 +0000 UTCThis dude doesn't need a prescription for ear pain. This dude needs a prescription for chapstick.

2023-10-01 02:57:54 +0000 UTCI really thought this was going to be a very long setup for a pun.

2023-10-01 00:43:13 +0000 UTCyeah get one of those pillows with a hole in
Mig
2023-10-01 00:08:19 +0000 UTCDamn I been having that come in and out the last month! Gets better, than I go hard and exert myself, body gets worn down and flares back up.
Nol
2023-09-30 23:27:00 +0000 UTCJust because something is ok for 2 years doesn’t mean it won’t cause problems later. By looking at your jaw your masseter does look tight. Also with your history of stiff neck..
Anima
2023-09-30 23:22:42 +0000 UTCI’m an audiologist. This is a classic case of pillow ear. What’s your pillow firmness like? Might have to invest in some down pillows.

2023-09-30 23:15:42 +0000 UTCThere's a ghost whispering in your ear at the same time the person died at night. Solved.

2023-09-30 21:43:42 +0000 UTCJust asked my doctor about it. He said one apple per day, every day, should clear that right up for you. And the good news, it can be any apple. Honey Crisp. Cosmic Crisp. A good ol' fashioned Granny Smith. Its gonna be ok.
The Daily Ghost
2023-09-30 21:37:17 +0000 UTCslow developing muscle fatigue from your in-ears I bet
James payne
2023-09-30 20:42:52 +0000 UTCRegular use of in-ear monitors?
Alex Govan
2023-09-30 19:43:28 +0000 UTCAthlete's ear?

2023-09-30 18:07:44 +0000 UTCMaybe a My Pillow?
Stu Walker
2023-09-30 18:06:20 +0000 UTCMaybe take another look at TMJ. I realized at some point that I was clenching my jaw all the time unconsciously and locked up position in sleep. Once I started consciously relaxing my jaws, it went away.
J Jackson
2023-09-30 18:06:12 +0000 UTCI would try sleeping with your head elevated for a few nights, use a warm compress and ibuprofen if needed, and take a break from any ear devices for a couple days. Of course, if it persists see your Dr. again or ask for an appointment with an ear specialist.
Cory
2023-09-30 17:17:19 +0000 UTCYou’re on tour as a musician and then you got pods in for the pod … Maybe Iike a sound deprivation approach to your fall winter? Ah, T! This sucks …
Brian Rooney
2023-09-30 16:53:05 +0000 UTCI came here to say this. The ear cleaning is a tremendous experience lol
Natty Norts
2023-09-30 16:37:49 +0000 UTCYou should get some x-rays done before the eggs hatch in there.
Eric Holmgren
2023-09-30 16:36:20 +0000 UTCYou should try Doug’s MyPillow.
Michelle L. Stone
2023-09-30 16:22:21 +0000 UTCI got my ears professionally cleaned out at a CVS MinuteClinic a couple years ago, that helped me a lot
Jeff Shirley
2023-09-30 16:19:49 +0000 UTCive had that sleeping w the airpods in

2023-09-30 15:50:28 +0000 UTCReally expected this one to end with a, “Ear’s to your health” pun or some such. Good luck with the ears T.

2023-09-30 15:42:35 +0000 UTCnow we know it’s NOT them. 😊
Tim Brooks
2023-09-30 15:13:47 +0000 UTCOh god I’ve had a very similar ear thing for years… but only on one side and I also have tinnitus in that ear. Haven’t figured out the cause
Maria K
2023-09-30 15:13:41 +0000 UTCReally bad bet. I don’t use in ears on tour. The ones I use on the podcast haven’t been giving me a problem for the past two years, and I only wear them on the show.
Tim Heidecker
2023-09-30 15:12:37 +0000 UTCThis would be my bet
Phil Braun
2023-09-30 15:06:48 +0000 UTCHave you changed or recently started using different in ear monitors? I had something really similar happen when I changed to slightly bigger earphones, especially with the wire that goes behind the ear. It would even wake me up at night with slight pain and almost like a tingling sensation inside my ear. Ears are weird.
Nick Caruana
2023-09-30 15:06:27 +0000 UTCperhaps it’s your ifb in-ears that are causing problems. you wore them on tour and on the podcast…
Tim Brooks
2023-09-30 14:52:01 +0000 UTCHope you feel better soon. I had this happen once, it was because I had a sinus infection that was slowly developing. It lasted all winter, it sucked. 🥲 have a great day!!
Ashley Oh
2023-09-30 14:50:33 +0000 UTCHave your wife roll you over every 30 minutes in your sleep 🙌
Brandon Martin
2023-09-30 14:48:18 +0000 UTCI would get rid of those ears straight away, you can always replace them later
Tom
2023-09-30 14:46:59 +0000 UTCI am very sensitive to sound so I actually have foam ear plugs in my ears a lot. I sometimes get cartilage pain that I can only solve by taking them out for as long as i can stand. It actually radiates out. So I wonder if you need a different pillow or maybe try to learn to sleep on your back more. Contact & pressure pain in your ear cartilage is for real!
Jennifer Martin
2023-09-30 14:43:14 +0000 UTCJust have your ears removed!
Michael Espinosa
2023-09-30 14:40:08 +0000 UTCPraying for you Tim! Hope you're able to find relief for your ear soon so that you can get back to doing what you do!
Nick Brilleaux
2023-09-30 14:39:22 +0000 UTCAnn says, very matter of factly, “He needs a new pillow. That happens to me too. Softer pillow. Foam pillow.” (Shredded foam because the contour can be customized).
Cory Feign
2023-09-30 14:34:04 +0000 UTCIt’s all those good songs bouncing around inside your head
BITKORN
2023-09-30 14:33:49 +0000 UTCI hope you find a solution for "Sayreville ear". Thanks T.
Jim D.
2023-09-30 14:33:47 +0000 UTCMaybe try sleeping with Vic’s over ear headphones for protection. All the best T.
Michael Burke
2023-09-30 14:33:41 +0000 UTCGot a Beatle in there?
Marty
2023-09-30 14:33:14 +0000 UTCIf I were you I’d go to an ear nose and throat doctor. Wouldn’t hurt just see see what they say.
Jamie Babs
2023-09-30 14:31:19 +0000 UTCCool, thanks Tim!
