Vic's Two Tims Tour Playlist + Tour Recap

By all accounts The Two Tims Summer '23 Tour was a smash hit. I think we did something like 28 shows in 30 days? That's quite a lot, but the show never felt repetitive, and I give credit to the audience each night as a large part of that. You could feel great energy onstage in every room. Each room had its own feel, from theaters to smaller clubs to even a Nashville dinner theater, somehow.

The show bounces around in tone. One minute Tim #1 is berating his assistant Cory for not understanding his beer request (C.B. IPA) and then later you find Tim #2 pouring out his heart to the crowd about a friend who lost his battle with depression in high school (Buddy) and to close the show, he sings about gargling urine for pleasure (Hot Piss). Somehow, it all just worked. What an insane experience to be around!

I was obviously psyched when Tim handed the pre-show playlist to me. He at first regretted it due to all the clown and merry-go-round music I initially added to it though I think he came around on it because he didn't fire me. Like the show, I wanted it to bounce around in tone a bit with what the songs the audience heard walking into the theater. The playlist evolved over the tour, but mostly it had songs I truly loved interspersed with oddities plus some downright awful trash that hopefully got some groans and laughs out of folks while they waited for Tim to come out. No one needs a club remix of Love Me Do!

Love you do,
Vic

P.S. I recommend setting it to shuffle and just letting it play.

You mentioned you went to Knobles a month-ish back, I immediately thought of their Wurlitzers when the pre show music was on in the background. I guess this is semi verification!

You know this album? Chico Buarque? It’s great. https://youtu.be/H0PrU4ELlko?si=F71P1Dm-cGuGpUPv

Thanks for the jams. @Vic. I danced around my apartment to "The Lords Prayer" I found another potentially good well of goofy covers. Search Klaus Wunderlich for oodles of hammond organ instrumental covers of Beatles, and other classics.

Shazam didn't put us onto Johnny Hammond Smith, thanks!

Hey Vic (or anyone who remembers)- What was the George Harrison song that was in the pre show during the last Two Tim’s tour?

William Riley

Your ominous sounds from the dark never fail to enchant their mark Had no idea, previously, that you work so deviously But, to me, you’re still sweet as a lark 💕

Thanks for sharing this, Vic! Bill and I saw Chuck Mangione perform a few times in the 70s, including a concert in Central Park. Good stuff. Glad you had a great tour, and are home safely. Looking forward to listening to your playlist.

How did I not notice half of this music playing?? 😆😆 ah we had a fun, talkative table in Nashville, that's why. What a great time!

Milwaukee show - my wife and I both took notice of the pre-show playlist. Bonus points for including Azymuth and Dexter Wansel. Thank you, Vic.
