Tour Diary Part 3

I guess I'm calling these "parts" to give myself the latitude to skip a day. OK? 

but not yet! 

BREAKING NEWS: THE SAFE HAS BEEN REMOVED! 

Took a locksmith, lots of tools, a protective welding mask... drilling... and it's gone. no more alarms... just the deteriorating American infrastructure to wake US up in the middle of the night... 

San Diego in the bag! Great venue, and gonna get high marks on the rating system. packed house, nice green room... sound had some issues. I had some bizarre slapaback going on with my voice during a solo piano segment that made me feel like I was on drugs, which I was NOT. 

I had a big contingent of family members at the show... my mom came down with some friends of hers. and then 2 cousins, as well as my cousin who died a few years ago's ex-wife (that a weird way to put it) and their 2 teenage sons...  Days of texts from my mom as she was trying to coordinate her friends, some of whom bought tickets... I tried to make it simple: Ma, I'll just have a bunch of after show passes for you when you show up at Will Call to hand out to whoever...  "Jerry's coming, with Allen and Lorainne... and I think their sons... but I'm not sure if they got tickets yet..." days of those kinds of updates. I don't know these people! Anyway, I came out to say hi to about 12 people after the show (a show that leaves me pretty damn spent) It was nice to see the cousins and they had a great time... my cousin Tom, I could tell really liked it - he gets it. I don't care as much what JERRY fuckin thinks!  But as we like to say on the bus "it is what it is... and it's all good." 

You may have seen we went live on instagram after the show because Vic had put up some insane Chubby Checker live show on the TV and we were watching with no sound and dying laughing watching Chubby do his thing.  Ellie came in and made us all tea... That's how we party on the bus. 

Just arrived in Tuscon. We'll try and stay cool and do it all over again... a night off in the nothing town of Van Allen Texas tomorrow as we push east to San Antonio.... more reports from Van Allen, where... yea... there's nothing doing.  But it will be nice to have a night to give my pipes a rest.
