Recording Wrapped!

well that was a nice fun hang wasn't it? Enjoyed your calls, the drops were on fire, Doug's Mouth Game was "Late Night Golden Era" Level... just lots of laughs!

Anyway, recording is done! Sadness!

Why sadness? Because I miss it already! What a great week of working with my Very Good Band. We tracked everything in 3 days (although we went back a rerecorded one song that wasn't feeling right... and then the next four days we did overdubs and vocals and some on the fly mixing as we went. It was so damn fun and collaborative. Just so many cool ideas came about by everyone being there and open to trying stuff.

Ellie, who is maybe the most trained musician of all of us, with lots of background in classical and jazz, really stepped up to help me with my vocals. She would give me feedback on takes and push me to try to get it better. It's the first time I've had that in the studio, and it really helped me.  We tried a new technique (new to me) which i had heard some singers do, which is for some of the rockers, we just put a stage monitor in the studio and blasted the song, and I sang into a stage mic, with no headphones... which gave me the chance to open up and perform a little more and there's a surprising absence of bleed on the vocal, but even if there was, it would have been fine.   Lots of surprises on this record. I probably shouldn't say much else about it, since it will likely be a while until we have it all ready for you. We had a cameraman shooting a lot of the session, so hopefully you'll get to see us at work when the time comes to roll it out.

Now we mix, which shouldn't be too hard, since it's already sounding good - will do some more overdubbing and tinkering along the way too. i've already spent a few days listening to it, making notes and playing with the sequence - a fun and integral part of the process- it's so affecting to me which songs come where, and this particular record has a pretty specific theme... dare I say "concept" that needs to be handled carefully.  Then we have to figure out the art and all the rest of how to PRESENT the record the right way.

Now my focus must completely shift to the Oscar Special which is LOOMING! We have a plan, we have bits, we have the bones of it, but there's much work to be done!  Of course a good 20 percent goes out the window on the day and when we go live, anything can happen and that usually ends up being the best stuff.  tix now online at heinetwork.tv

The day after the Oscar Special we're OFF TO LONDON!

I just gotta stay healthy, organized and positive and trust that Prophet Shamp will be looking over me, keeping me safe and prosperous.

I hope he is doing the same for you all (as a prophet myself, i can confirm that he is)

Peace and Love my friends, T
