Road Dispatch #1

hello friends, just a quick hello from the road, outside of Billings Montana on our way to St. Paul... we'll have a day off today hanging out in the middle of nowhere, on the Montana/North Dakota border and then tonight we push to St. Paul.

So far so good! the West Coast swing was very successful, packed houses, lots of love and excited and attentive audiences and the show keeps getting tighter and more fun. Every night is a little different. Everyone in the band and the crew are gelling nicely - good vibes all around. It's so fun to spend time with musicians, we sit around and play songs we love and talk about records... our bass player Ellie, brought this little practice guitar that is so lovely to play, I picked it up and just started writing with it. I've got a couple of new songs cookin now.

My only struggle has been my voice, which is gets run through the ringer every night, compounded with lingering Covid congestion, which just seems to hang over me, moving from sniffles to a cough and back... TODAY I think I feel almost all better. Let's see if it holds. but last week was a daily process of hot tea, ricola, vocal warm ups and just faking it the best i can every night. seeing some clips of the shows online, i'm pulling it off. Other than that, Summer touring out here is just lots of fun - You get up in a new town every day, go explore, get some food, hang around, rest a bit, do a soundcheck (where you play some fun music with GOOOOOD players) do the show, have a beer or two backstage... back on the bus, for some laughs and a hang, then I hit the hay, the bus driver shows up and I magically wake up in another town!
