Big Apples
Added 2022-04-16 14:08:47 +0000 UTCgood morning from a groggy boy - lazing around my hotel looking out at a BEAUTIFUL downtown Manhattan. We had a screening of The Comedy last night which was nice, a good time catching up with the director, Rick Alverson, his partner Emilie and the film's producer Mike - certainly didn't feel like 10 years had passed.
Yesterday's show was so fun! it started out rough. The Brooklyn studio had an unexpected and unexplained sudden drop in internet speeds right before we were set to go live which then involved a restart - then there were issues going live on the Glendale side... it was a little touch and go for a bit but we finally got it up and running and never looked back. It was kinda fun to be disconnected from the guys and maybe let me become a little more stream of consciousness - free form, loose... will be good to be back in the garage next week with a huge surprise guest. :)
Hard to talk about how much fun the Bowery Ballroom show was - and how it was a proving ground for what the summer tour is going to be... And it just worked. The stand up act to an audience that wants to be there for that is super fun - they played along perfectly... and then playing music - most of these songs have never really been played live - where a bunch of people were singing along to all the words - well... that got me.
I'm excited to see what the show becomes tonight, now that there's one under our belt... maybe i won't forget so many words, but maybe forgetting the words is a fun part of the show so i should INTENTIONALLY forget the words, but that seems phoney. oy. off to Katz's again. see you tonight if you're going! I think there may be a few tix left
