They skipped way too much of 52nd street. . . Stiletto is one of his best songs period.

Des L

good songs good hole

sk

I want more Hoel

8bitnitwit

More Hoel, please.

Boo Dism

I'm with Vic on just about everything so far. I think Glass Houses is the most solid all the way through, although I prefer The Nylon Curtain for personal taste. I'm hungry for more Hoel, guys!

Kal Peduzzi

Finally just caught up in the joel hoel 3 & 4, great work vic & crew! Glass Houses kicks so much ass. Hope y'all are still planning to round out the hoel with one more

Josh Paisant

Billy's sunglass journey is fantastic

Jim D.

Really good hoel, gentlemen

Sam Melman

good hoel, fellas!

Mary-Anne McTrowe

Yes!

Chip Rascal

We adopted a stray kitten 2 days ago, and so I decided to show my partner Disney's 1988 "Oliver and Company", a film I've watched way too many times as a kid and adult. I knew Huey Lewis and Bette Midler both get big song moments, but what I didn't know until just now is that the 2nd lead, a streetsmart dog, is played by, you guessed it, Billy Joel.

Di Drew

"Viewers of Joel Hoel are aware what's on The Stranger." No, Tim. I know nothing about Joel but I love how into it Vic gets.

Tron Brown

Can’t believe y’all skipped over ‘Zanzibar’ and ‘Stiletto’ so quick!! Two amazing songs!! 😒

Dirk Diggler

this was my first hoel and i really loved it!

Nando Ramirez

My dad started a boo that booed Billy Joel off stage in Chicago. He said Joel was opening for Cheap Trick and he and his buddy just really wanted to see them play. I really wish I could figure out what concert it was at.

Austin Guth

Lol same I love my ‘decker a lil hot & vinegared myself too, I am delighted in his real or performative anger, Jack Nicholson who? Tim’s ability to conversationally, jump a shark with the seadoo doing backflips and fireworks and middle fingers and guitar solos and land it, and still get the applause is always goin to work every time 😆♥️✌️Grateful and thankful for all we get from these lovely people ! :)

DanBo

So good, excited for the Nylon Curtain era and then the Doo Wop Christi Brinkley era Joel, do two or three more episodes, keep ‘em long, ‘daddy loves his long hole Joel’d yikes lol ;) Peace & Love ✌️♥️

DanBo

^^^^ also 69th comment nice

brainblob

good hole guys

brainblob

I became a patron for this video. Glass Houses is a classic. “Sleeping with the Television On” is top shelf Joel.

Joe King

Just want to say it's great to find another "Sex Over the Phone" supporter. It's very on the nose like the guys said, but it's catchy! It was released during the early years of the HIV/AIDS epidemic, and it was intended to encourage/normalize safer alternatives to sex.

Andrew

I don't enjoy Billy Joel at all but for some reason I love this show. It's great to see the Trinity in something more structured in a pure commentary mode

Jimjim

Informative and fun. Thank you Vic!

Clay N. Ferno

Stiletto was basically skipped over unfortunately. That’s a really good one. Dynamic and it all comes together at one point in a strong way. Unfortunately for Tim there is saxophone on it. Also, i don’t think it’s about shoes as much as S&M.

Todd

Longview: Green Day

David D

Other songs about self-love: Cyndi Lauper: She Bop Broken Social Scene: Me and My Hand

Dylan Murray

Surprised by all the Joel heads

Journe

May I say Dylan’s Self Portrait and Another Self Portrait are in my top 5 Dylan. (Nashville Skyline, New Morning, Blood on the Tracks)

Brian Rooney

🤣

M. Tetlinger

20:50 scared the hell out of me lol

Conner

"Icicle" by Tori Amos

Kyle Smith

That song sounded like 4/4 with some very syncopated accents giving it an off time feel. Also - would my ding a ling count as a jerk off song, or is it more of a hand job song?

Jesse Peikoff

Someone is posting all sorts of on cinema at the cinema content on YouTube. Just thought you guys would like to know, especially Tim. The channel is HEI Guys

Wolf Digs

Tim, with peace and love, please put on some nice headphones, have some marijuana and give Glass Houses a listen again. you’re gonna love it

Max Lazzara

The moment Tim Heidecker ceases to show flowery and open disdain for something he's doing is the moment I pack it up and leave for good.

avj

I really don't care for Billy Joel. But his hole? Now i'm getting excited.

Ross Phillips

I had so many of these on 8-track from my cocaine-dealing Uncle (RIP) as hand-me-downs. Love it!

Clay N. Ferno

What's better than a K-Hoel? a Joel Hoel!

Clay N. Ferno

I loved the ep even though Tim was speeding through the songs like he had a frozen pizza in the oven. Viva la Hoel!!

Goose

I am Joel Hol. Remember guys???!!?!! Remember?!??!??!!??!!

Joel Holdsworth

I am so happy, missed the Hoel!

Ty Hi

I think all cars sold in the mid to late 80s came with a free copy of Innocent Man and maybe Graceland.

Todd

That being said, this series has opened my eyes too how much of a hack BJ is/was. Not a talentless hack but a hack nonetheless. And it’s no surprise that with his method of following the wave he stopped making records in the early 90s because there’s no way he could have done grunge or hip hop or anything that came after.

Todd

Sleeping With the Television On is one of the best. A hidden gem. I thought I was alone in thinking that. Nice to know I’m not. It has one of his best lines too “I really wish I was less of a thinking man and more a fool who’s not afraid of rejection.” Hopefully Tim is well rested and in a Better mood for Nylon Curtain. At least Doug is there with an open mind.

Todd

what a great way to start my morning, I'm meeting with a new therapist today so I'm a little nervous, this helps.

Mertie

thanks for turning me on to sleeping with the TV on, vic. that bridge is unreal

jacob brams

VIC, don't give up so easy and lose the confidence. this is so frustrating, I love this album and "sleeping with..." is a top 5 Joel song for me too. ok im done self feff

Shawn Morones

now I'm at the "sleeping with the television on" part and once again! we're talking over the music...no wonder the guys "don't like it"

Shawn Morones

most of this episode felt like talking about the videos and less about the actual music

Shawn Morones

like, I love the Billy Joel deep dive exploration, but introducing the songs through the corny era-specific visuals etc. just **ruins** the chance for someone less familiar (Tim/Doug) to hear the songs for what they are on their own

Shawn Morones

Glass Houses is my favorite too, Vic

Shawn Morones

the music is so much more enjoyable when you DON'T watch/show the music videoslol

Shawn Morones

Thanks! Coming home to this at the end of an exhausting week was just what I needed. Now bring on the Nylon Curtain hoel ... my fav album!

Matt Whittle

Missed a moment to mention Stiletto being sampled for this Kool G Rap classic. https://youtu.be/-RVQeJPAW2U But Beyonce gets a mention with her cover. Not the best episode because Tim is in a bad mood.

Reagan Bond

The best Joel interpolation in hip hop, starting around 2:40: https://youtu.be/bx14hca1z_c

Mike Gibbons

Oh hell yeah, this is why I PRESCRIBE ;D Go Joel Go , thanks Office Hours Co!

DanBo

Slow down, guys! Give these songs a chance! I'm with Vic, Glass Houses is maybe the best Joel album.

Mike Gibbons

I hope they do two more episodes! Love, love love the Joel Hole

Thomas Bell

So many genuinely fantastic album cuts that Tim dismisses seconds into the first verse - I hope he gave them another chance after recording. These are classic albums. Not flawless, but definitely not riddled with duds - we're not even up to bad Billy yet!

Jon Uleis

Tim is fucking cranky and off the mark, dismissing the album tracks. Like, who doesn’t like “All For Leyna” and “Sleeping With The TV On”? Making him scrub through these great songs is bizarre. Thank you to the host for trying to focus on the good stuff.

M. Tetlinger

Can’t wait for the in depth podcast about this song https://youtu.be/woLQI8X2R6Y

Charlie Van Stee

All For Leyna might be my top Joel. Great episode gang.

Nick Piper

The breaking leg thing really made me laugh.

🖤Cassie🖤

Those 52nd Street deep tracks are pure gold.

Shawn McNulty

its 4/4

St Cole

Can’t tell you how much joy this brings a recovering long islander. Thank you, Vic.

Eric D.

This episode is getting me so hype to hear the trinity talk about the Joel doo wop era

Rene Duplantier

What a treat. Thank you all!

Boognish

Whoa the deep dive into him emulating other acts was great!

Marcus Collar

That song where they debate the time signature is 4/4. Ding ding for Timmy

Micah McCaw

at last! need my fix!

Tommy LaCroix

Yes!!!

Danny Schluck

Looking forward to watching this. Thank you.

Kevin Doyle

Tim Erbes
