I've been hard at work for the past month or so on this newest episode of Filling The Void. A guy named Ben Craw reached out to me years ago. He works for Vice News. I was tied up with other "long term" (Super Deluxe, which turned out to NOT be all that long term) editing work, so I wasn't able to collaborate with anyone else because of dumb contract stuff. But finally now we're able to make some stuff together and it's wild that VICE NEWS wants to release it. It's been some of the most creatively fulfilling work I've done.
This latest episode is something we're extremely proud of. Jed Oelbaum came in to research some of the craziest things related to this episode and much of what he found made some big appearances in this. I'm also happy to share this episode with you because it's something that's pretty personal to me.
I've struggled with my weight my entire life. You'll get a sense throughout this of what has gone on in my brain over the years. I hope you enjoy this and that it makes you laugh, or feel some sort of emotion that might be sadness or empathy; hope you know that no matter what, you're not alone.

Unfortunately the glorification of thinness is so pervasive that I feel it will be something many of us struggle with every day…but the video was a good reminder to resist the impulse to poison ourselves or drink the snake juice, and just focus on eating and exercising to make our bodies feel good.

When I eat everything I want I get up to 360. Even trying to eat well and not be so sedentary, Jack, my BMI is over 40. Doctors treat me like shit so I get embarrassed to even go and I’ve got a great job that gives me the best health insurance you can get. This shit is so hard to talk about or deal with. Bless you for being vulnerable enough to make something this powerful. Amazing work, I can’t wait til you are doing feature length documentary features bc I see your career just getting better and better and your skills seem to sharpen even more the higher you climb. I don’t know you personally but I still feel proud to know you Vic!!!
