We got some banger shows coming up soon, including the big LIVE LIVE show! (sold out! but maybe adding a late or early show,,, preference? you know what I'd prefer...)
Been on a Dylan kick again after falling into the Jokermen podcast which had a recent episode where esteemed rock and roll writer Steven Hyden ranked their Dylan albums worst to best. It was a wonderful spirited conversation that had me pausing and listening to stuff I've missed or discounted over the years. it forced me to make my top ten list which i posted on their twitter last night...
1. Blonde on Blonde 2. Blood on the Tracks 3. Highway 61 4. Desire 5. “Love and Theft” 6. Another Side 7. Freewheelin’ 8. Modern Times 9. Bringing it All Back Home 10. Time out of Mind
This of course would be pretty different if I had to do it again and is also totally meaningless. I also really love all the Bootleg Series releases, but especially, "Another Self Portrait, Vol 10" (check out "Sign On The Window with Orchestration") and "Sign of the Times Vol 8" which is late period demos, alt versions etc... Great stuff.
I've also really come around on "Murder Most Foul" - on first listen I thought it was terrible... I hated it. Then I listened again and there was something mysteriously hypnotic about it, then i listened with a few friends one night in the desert after a few substances and it really opened up for me... THEN! I listened with my dad, both us us on headphones, and I watched him listen, as Bob put down his final thesis on the 20th Century over a beautiful pad of music and watched him get knocked over by it all, and it was clear to me this was Bob's late, great masterwork. something no one else could even get near to pulling off. It's an incredible piece of writing and mood making from an 80 year old man who just has never stopped exploring his own mind and his own journey as an artist. God bless the man and sorry if i've gone on about before but who can remember anything anymore.
Hey! Is there something you hated first and then grew to love? I'm curious! Lemme know below...
Have a great weekend and try and stay cool somehow!
Peace and Love, T

It took me quite a long time to get into and appreciate David Bowie's music for some reason

2021-07-24 06:32:38 +0000 UTCi hated Bob Dylan when i first heard him in middle school, because he didn’t sound ANYTHING like KoRn! But now I love him and different albums speak to me differently through different stages of my life. KoRn is dead to me, Dylan lives on and on.
