...and I'm actually exaggerating the first bit a lot more than the second. I went into my first viewing of Baccano already mildly spoiled, so I wasn't even all THAT confused by the chaos unfolding in front of me. I knew i was a show about immortals and the chronology of the show was all wonky and the characters were weirdos and so forth, I was just playing catch up with the fast-paced editing of the episode. But now, on what's at least my third watch-through of Baccano, I'm legitimately more disoriented specifically because I know EXACTLY what's happening. Since so much of episode 1 is basically showing the fallout of the FINAL episode, watching it now with a full knowledge of what leads up to these scenes feels reeeaaally weird. It's like I'm actually watching the first episode of a season 2 that never happened. I kept getting this instinctive urge to check and make sure I hadn't started in the wrong place... which it appropriate, given the framing device of the episode, but still.
