If you follow me on any of the hellscapes that are social media, then you already saw this picture. What the heck? Did I travel back in time to the year 2005? Not quite, I ACTUALLY took a trip out to Eastern Carolina where, it just so turns out, one of the VERY LAST SUNCOAST LOCATIONS still exists! Yup, for whatever reason, a scant handful of the places didn't switch over to to the FYE branding along with all the other Suncoast and Sam Goody and Media Play locations. And even as the retail apocalypse of the 2020s sends more and more malls to the grave, somehow a couple of those stores are STILL in operation! And I actually went to one!
What was it like? Well, you'll just have to wait and read the comics to find out! Yep, that's right. Because I only wound up going to two anime conventions for all of 2024, I decided to document this whole trip the same way I do all my con weekends. As soon as the Otakon 2024 comics wrap up (whenever that ends up being) there's gonna be a special "Suncoast Pilgrimage" series. No, it's not gonna be a Patreon thing, it'll be over on the main Conventional Wisdom site. I just figured I'd better start teasing ya'll with the knowledge and build up some anticipation.
And as if the prospect of an extra set of comics wasn't enough, there's also gonna be a MOVIE! ...or at least a vlog on YouTube. Yeah, my buddy Stefan when on the journey too, and we got plenty of documentary footage. Hopefully, by the time I'm ready to start working on the comics, he'll also have had time to edit the footage. It'll be like you're really there!
Just wanted to prove that I really AM doing something other than laying around the house and failing to get comics drawn on time. That's just what happens MOST of the time...
