But seriously, "By Yourself" isn't a BAD song by any means, I just think it really pales in comparison to "Russian Roulette." Also, as long as I'm playing music critic again, I also feel like the song isn't really energetic enough to properly fit the Dirty Pair vibe. Like, it's not exactly somber or anything, but I do feel like it isn't as fun as it really needs to be. In fact, upon listening to it again, I actually feel like it would work a lot better as an ENDING theme than an opening. Except, of course, for the fact that the REAL ending theme for the OVAs is a song I don't want to see replaced at all. "Aki Kara no Sumertime" is a lot of fun, and exactly the kind of bouncy JPop tune that first got me curious about Japanese music back in the day. And so, in conclusion: music, amirite?
BUT ANYWAY, if this seemed like a pretty generic comic that could have been written about ANY of the OVAs... I agree. So it's a good thing that, for the first time in the whole DIrty Pair run, I've actually got a SECOND COMIC out of something! Tune in next week for page 27 part two!
