BONUS Anime Comic: Gunbuster - page 10
Added 2024-02-07 19:26:54 +0000 UTCOkay, look: going three whole episodes without the big title 'bot doing anything isn't ACTUALLY that egregious, especially when you compare the pacing of Gunbuster's plot so far to that of other Mecha shows of the era. I mean, Giant Gorg doesn't actually introduce its title mech until episode 5, and Dancouga doesn't have the team finally combine to form its namesake until episode SIXTEEN. But the thing is, those shows are 26 and 38 episodes long respectively. When you see the Gunbuster finally emerge at the tail end of episode 4 here, and it suddenly dawns on you that there's only TWO more installments left after this, it hits a little differently.
Also, I will now accept your congratulations and praise for the tremendous restraint it took to NOT make a whole comic just about a Gainax project dramatically shifting gears mid-production. Lord knows it wasn't easy.
