Also, it didn't occur to me that, while I personally wasn't introduced to Iron Chef until it was airing on Food Network around 2000, the show actually debuted on Japanese TV in 1993, three whole years BEFORE Slayers Next. So there's the possibility that this might not even be a joke (or at least not MY joke) but the exact thing the show wanted me to think of!
...and just for the record, I watched one episode of Slayers to get the idea for this comic, then THREE episodes of Iron Chef while I was drawing. And yes, I absolutely had to take a break to go get something to eat.
