...though it IS kind of funny how sometimes the loud idiot can be my very LEAST favorite part of a show, and other times my MOST favorite. I think it's largely a matter of that character's placement in the broader context of the show. If the idiot is the main, central protagonist and the show bends over backwards to make things work out in spite of said idiocy, I hate that character. If the idiot is only in the sporting cast, and suffers the appropriate consequences of being a doofus, then I'm probably gonna like that character a lot more. And here... Well, literally the first thing Amelia does is fall on her face. Slayers has enough slapstick in its DNA for make sure that these characters can stay on my good side.
And speaking of which, has any indie wrestler ever tried to use "obliviously violent pacifist" as their gimmick? Cos I can totally see that getting over with the crowd. I vividly remember the first time we watched episode 11 at anime night, Phil calling out his attack names absolutely brought the house down.
