Chomusuke ranks right up there next to Bunny Manager from ServantxService on my list of pointless characters I like and don't care. Completely gratuitous mascot fodder with no meaningful contribution to the story? Sure. Don't care, though, that's one cute cat.
And yes, I'm aware that Chomusuke is technically female. There's just something about the phrase "THIS guy" that's a lot funnier.

To be fair, Chomusuke's not *just* a cute non-story-relevant cat, it's also *spoiler* *spoiler*part of *spoiler*, and *spoiler* backstory *spoiler* *spoiler* the original source material *spoiler*. Sort of a "Chekov's Cat". Though who knows if the Anime will even eventually get to that, but at least you now have a clear explanation for *spoiler*.
