When you have an idea to replace blatant Japanese patriotism with blatant American patriotism, and the 4th of July is right around the corner, you pretty much HAVE to make sure they coincide.
And no trying to read a deeper political meaning into this, I just like playing around with the formula to things to see how different they look with a single ingredient chanced (and you gotta admit, that kind of IS what the end would look like if you did the story in America)
